Building under the house ~ Cellar/Basement
What do you think of this idea?

On our land, inside a building have the ability to dig down, place (small) steps or a ladder and create underground storage rooms.

Use the same mechanics for creating a room of the house. Initially the walls, floor and roof could look similar to the style in the Mole Cave, then upgrade to create wood/stone and lighting options.

The items listed below could be crafted for personal use or sold.

Storage
Storage Chests
Option to cluttering up the house and land
The house then does not need to be needlessly large or tall to accommodate them.

Shelves
Craftable or bought from Heidi
* Storage chests
* Surplus small & medium relics
* Food & Ingredients

Water Barrels - Blue plastic
Craftable or bought from Burgess
* Water storage
* Decoration

Wooden Barrels
Craftable or bought from Arvio
* Storage option to chests
* Decoration

Weapons & Target practice area
Weapons Racks
Craftable or bought from Civil Corps shop
eg. Daggers rack - has spaces for each of the different materials used

Target practice & training area
These could be made into simple mini-games. Reward = more stamina points.
* Target board
* Dumbells
* Punch bag

I will grant that this is a video game, so strict logic doesn't necessarily need to be adhered to, but... since the town sits on top of an oasis, in real life, you probably wouldn't be able to dig down more than 2-3ft before the water would start seeping in. Not against the idea, mind, just that it might strain credulity a little and you can already build like 4-5 levels up on the house once you get all the knowledge upgrades, so you could just build yourself an attic or something to house all the status boosting relics, and then have a little gym or something on the second floor or even an adjacent room on the first floor. Now if they wanted to add a wine cellar, like you can get in Stardew Valley, then we could definitely talk.

Though, on a side note, I kind of like the barrel idea, but with the twist that they would be able to hold foodstuffs. Primarily for animals, but also for cooking and maybe fermenting, turning into jams/jellies, pickling, etc. All things the devs could consider adding at some later point.

The one thing i've always HATED with MTAP and MTAS .. is the storage system .. it sucks ... i have countless chests in one room, even upgrading to chests the mysterious man has. Once i filled in the museum, i have countless relic parts still and i don't like them, or i have nowhere to put them that looks nice enough for it not to make the room look cluttered and a mess. My OCD won't stand for it LOL.

@ Aerogems

The storage issue is a real PITA which is why I thought of building down out of sight.
I realise I can build a multi-story building etc, I just don't want a great big building. Prefer to have a small place (2 story max). I wish we could have more land but I don't see that happening. I like to decorate and make things pretty, organised and uncluttered which tends to take more space.

I take your point about the oasis, but there is already a very long list of things that defies logic in this game so I can overlook the water issue for the sake of getting additional space.

Hopefully the devs will address the storage issue in general.

Appreciate the feedback! I'm not sure if we're going to make it possible, however, I can see it being a great mod option if we're to provide the mod support in the future :)

While the storage system in MTAP/MTAS is better than games like Stardew Valley, I kind of agree. Maybe a simple solution would be to allow having relics/furniture in a chest be enough to give the benefit, even if it's not sitting on the floor or a wall or whatever. You still may have a couple chests full of relics and another couple full of pieces, but... Another idea might be to allow you to put relics on the roof, sort of like you could put them on the balcony thing in MTAP. Then you could just create a hidden donut hole or something on your house and hide all the relics there.
