So, the way the bug showed up on my game is, I got the letter on the 26th of winter. The next day (the 27th of winter) there was a reminder to go to the race, but no one showed up and the event didn't trigger. I look to the next month and on the 2nd and 3rd of spring, the event is there. I'm guessing that the function that sets the reminder doesn't check to see if the event can be held during that time.
So, in my case, Winter Solstice would have occurred on the second day of the race, and I'd bet there's a rule that you can't have two events on the same day, but there isn't the same check for the reminder.
Coming here to second this bug and theory.
Timeline of how it happened:
Winter Day 26 - Received a letter from Sandrock City Hall stating there was a competition going to be held at the Sandrock Sandrunner Complex (which is not what it's called in game). It did not give a day, only said it would be 2 days long 12:00 to 18:00
Winter Day 27 - Nothing Happened
Winter Day 28 - End of year celebrations start. Calendar reminds me to sign by 9am at the Sandrock Sandrunner Complex. Nothing on map. Visit event area, nothing happens.
Spring Day 1 - No notifications, nothing on map, however go to the Sandrunner Kiosk and there is a town event cutscene. Once the cutscene is over people auto poof or walk away.
Spring Day 2 - Event now shows on my Calendar as Day 1 at 12:00 to 18:00. Show up to event and it goes as planned.
Spring Day 3 - Event goes as planned.
Story mission event happened on year 1 Summer 26 (can't remember what it was)
Day of Memories decorations did not appear until Autumn 1 a few days later
Day of Memories was held on Autumn 3
Mail saying that Tour de Rock scheduled to happen on Winter 27
Winter Solstice decorations already up on Winter 26
Tour de Rock does not happen, Winter Solstice happens as normal
Tour de Rock was held on Spring 3
Seems the theory of "two events with decorations can't happen at the same time" so it allows the one that got decorations up first to continue and pushes the other one back 3 days.
They often throw you half-information in your face and expect you to remember where to find those.
From the beginning, I thought the fireside was the actual area in which the Minister/Mayor announces stuff. No, that's Martle Square.
Do we have the information anywhere on the map? No.
Got a mission to be at a certain time at Martle Square and ran around the whole town....
Meanwhile, every announcement-notification only says "we will talk about it at the fireside"
This is the same. "Go to the Sandrunner Complex" NOWHERE is there anything that says Sandrunner Complex. There's no name on the map, there's no marked area,
Then there's that funny guy here who says "you installed it! just go to the largest group of people!" They're at the stage, next to the Blue Moon Saloon. - Guess what, nothing happens when I'm there before 09:00 and it gets 09:00 - because this is not the Sandrunning Kiosk, appearently. - Following the people? They often run around town and then just appear at the event out of nowhere, even with the fireside, ~1/2 of the people just spawn there from whereever they were before.
I mean, why do the areas have names, but are not written on the map?
And then I look online to figure out where the heck this is supposed to be, and I find exactly nothing, other than that people have the same problem....
- By the way, this happened for me on D25WY1, so according to caesaries, this is simply a wrong reminder by the game (Calender lists the Tour de Rock for D2SpY2 and D3SpY2). *sigh*
So I guess the "Sandrunner Complex" is the "Sandsled Sensation"?
The other thing I hate, while I'm at it, is that at the fireside, you have to just stay there before it starts, and the scene plays. But for other events/missions, in which you have to be somewhere at a specific time (and sometimes it specifically says to be "on time" or "early, to help", you have to wait until it's EXACT said time BEFORE you enter, otherwise it won't trigger.... As someone who usually tries to be 5-15 minutes early, it's hell of annoying to always be late in those sequences, because the won't trigger when you're already there.
