Why is there an Ad for figurines in the game?

Can someone explain to me, why I am paying money for the game, just to find Advertising inside the game I just paid for?

Said advertising sends you to amazon, so that you can spend money on something... because, apparently... buying the game isnt enough.

Location of the Advertising:
Amirahs House, on the cupboard - I dont know if there are more, yet.

You do know that you can buy those figurines from her shop and they can be placed on a shelf in the workshop? Just like they're shown in her house.

Use the simple bookshelf sold by the mysterious man.

I mean, fine, that they sell merch... but is it really necessary to send players to amazon from inside the game, during normal gameplay? (Just putting a "merch" button in the main menu would have been fine too... and a lot less intrusive.)

You're saying there's a link from the game to Amazon? Haven't heard that one before. There were some people on the discord that asked if they could buy the figurines which used to be reserved for kickstarters and they did mention on the discord having set up an Amazon store. But hadn't heard about an actual link to it.

Actually, I just encountered this for the first time in a *paid* game, during gameplay... and I find it very intrusive to get kicked out of the game and shown amazon.

The idea is to make it as easy as possible to give them money. Seriously this is like capitilism 101. And before you get on the devs, I doubt it was decided at their level. This smacks of Executive level chicanary.

I read it. Just pretty surprised since multiple people mentioned seeing the figurines in-game on the discord but can't remember a single kickstarter backer mentioning seeing what you describe. And there are quite a few people picking through every bit of content they can find.

Also the devs haven't mentioned it on the discord. Ok they're under lockdown in Chonqging but still.

I heard tell of an MMO where you could order pizza in the game. I think there are games where they sell and trade different color hats (People actually get their accounts pillaged and looted).

Seriously this is mild compared to what is out there on the internet gaming scene. I mean you actually (I am assuming) get a material object for your money.

The thing they sell on Amazon is indeed the physical figurines that were given to some higher tier kickstarters.

Clicking on any of the images there, sends you to amazon - but obviously you are not warned about it... I just found the "real" look of them confusing and thought there was more to it, maybe an easteregg... but not amazon.

Tbh: they should just ask me if I want to go to amazon before sending me there. (or put it in the text above.)

I honestly don't think it is that big of a deal. It is on one obscure place, the ad is for merch related to the actual game + you can buy some in-game versions for in-game currency.

I found it a greater offense that not everyone in town had a figurine in her shop. Where's the Andy figurine? It'd be so adorable. ...granted, I want a figurine for Logan and Haru.... but I'm hoping that everyone in town ( including pets ) gets one eventually in game. That way no player is left out of their favorite whoever ( or whatever ).
