So, you believe in stereotypes? Cool, cool. I don't! Unless they are expressly written as a gay character. They are not gay. You need to train yourself to not see that. No one has been listed as gay. The only npc in the game that not homosexual would be Vivi/Hugo, Cooper/Mabel and Rocky/Krystal. Thought that does not mean they could not have been open to other options at one time in their lives. Marriage and children do not equal a specific sexual preference, but a choice they made. Obviously one of love as portrayed by the story.
So, who is gay and who is not. Who knows? If the creators do not openly say who is 100% gay or not gay. Then it is up to "YOU" as the player to make that choice. If you want. Based on your views and idea of what represents these choices to you.
See, I can see Pablo as gay. Just as much as I can see Owen as Gay (well actually I see him as Bi and very open). I totally ship Pen and Burgess together. There have been a couple lines that triggered this (can't remember them). I definitely think Mi-an and Amirah are 100% into girls. Nia is 100% BI and a forsaken best friend love interest all the way.
There you go, I gave you more options. Hell, MORT could be gay for all we know. A few years after the lose of his wife. MORT shuts himself away from the world. He puts himself into his work and avoids everyone, but this pains one young man who looks up to the older (yet still young back in the days) friend. Jensen can't bare to let him destroy himself like this. So he pushes himself into his life. Day by day it visits him and talks to him. Even if he won't talk back to him. It goes on and on till one day Mort snaps. "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!" He cries out. "She was the love of my life. How could I ever feel whole again."
Jensen rush to his broken friend and holds him in young strong arms. "You can't fully fill that whole but you can still live again. You don't have to be along." He lifts more tear soaked face to his. "You will always have me." Then he kisses him deeply.
Aww there you go, now you have a new gay couple in the game. Um... that story might be easier to read if you see them as young and in their prime instead of how they are now. Unless that's your thing. I don't judge.
Now, with this silliness out of the way. I have to plan my own lesbian love fest. I am struggling between Elsie and Amirah. I love that redhead rough and tumble cowgirl, but... but.... am I going to get a knock on the door for picking her. Still there is Amirah who is just a great character. So pretty and has I like her development.
Oh, but there is also Nia! DEVS! Why can't I have my harem. Let me have Elsie, Amirah, Nia, Fang, Arvio and Pablo. I can make a house big enough. Toss Grace and Qi in to. Why can't I have my Harem? Baw, none of these games ever give me what I truly want.
;P
If that BS were true you wouldn't be able to have gay relationships in the game.
Boy the phony offense some people take.
Quit bringing up this, by now, moronic agenda all the time. It's making more harm than good, it's making people HATE anything LGB. Please, just SHUT UP!
P.S - Go make your own game if you don't like the games out there.
Thank you.
Most blatantly are ignoring the evidence cited and many are just trying to be offensive and tell me not to speak. The fact remains that I am aware we can romance most characters in game but some people went so far as to say that the flamboyant characters aren't being made the butt of jokes but I just don't see that. I very much felt that Antione was mocked for his flamboyance. For goodness sake, he was even creepily stalking the doctor, hiding behind trees to watch him and such. Letting people romance most characters, regardless of gender was exactly what I meant when I said "bare minimum" and despite the insults and aggression in this thread, I still very much feel that way.
My only complaint on this subject in this game at this time is that the character was presented one way (regardless of their preferences) and then became something else. Akin to an actor in a Sitcom being replaced with another actor but the character stays the same (Darren on Bewitched, (?Becky? on Rosanne, Bob Dylen for Mushmouth (I kid)).
Seriously/ We can't have fun playing the game as-is?
I'm cisgender, and don't get what the fuss is about...
I'm willing to be enlightened on how fictional characters affect how people view LGBTQ people because to me this is fiction...

You are 100 percent entitled to your opinion. I stand by the statement being an exaggeration. Perhaps you could provide a little more context.
Antoine is far from the only person in Sandrock that's 'creepy' in regards to the doctor. Arvio also has an unhealthy obsession ( to the point of spoilers I won't address in this thread ).
Making every single character that is capable of being romanced available regardless of gender is far from the bare minimum. I'm not stating that to be insulting toward you. I'm stating that from experience. The bare minimum is providing one / two as an option -- to site a comparison such as Dragon Age. ( A game which provided one male and one female that would date either. To be honest, a ground-breaking addition were the options added in Inquisition that would exclusively date same gender only. ) You'll for instance also run into several games where you can only date the opposite sex -- such as Witcher / Final Fantasy 7, ect.
Now, I'm not stating that the characters in Sandrock couldn't stand for some improvement. I've made my feelings known on other threads I currently don't care for any of the romance options. I'm simply not connecting the devs to be anti-lgbt.
The player will be able to date or marry people of either gender in the game: fact.
Are all gays identical in lifestyles? No, that's a fact as well. I've worked with one that was close to Antoine in behaviour and two others that certainly weren't. One could pass for a clerk the other for a typical salesman.
Are all straight people identical in lifestyles as well? No. That too is a fact.
I have four "openly gay" people in my life. I have no idea how I would represent them in a game because, apart from them living in a committed relationship with a person of the same sex, there is nothing to distinguish them from anyone else. So, if I was to "represent" them in a game, they would look and behave like everyone else.
I don't know what percentage of the population is made up by openly gay people living in committed relationships, but I suspect if the player decided to commit to a same sex relationship in Sandrock, that would probably fill the quota.
I still haven't seen any evidence at all that Pablo is gay, openly or otherwise. I think people see that stereotype and are assuming.
