Can't put baby yakmel in barn

I just build my first barn and I want to put the baby yakmel I received in a mission in the barn, but while holding it and standing in the barn it won't let me put it down. It just said "unbuilt" I don't know what that means.

Is it a barn and not a coop or the fence one? you have 3 barnyard animal things

Coop for chikens
Fenced little thing for rabbits
Large barn thing for yaks

is it put down so you can interact with it on your farm? (as in no funny business in the tab to place it happened?)

Have you waited a day after putting it down?

Have you tried picking it up, exiting the layout screen, going back in and landing it down?

Is it actually a yak and not the yak plushy?

It's a yakmel calf and I have the big barn. And I can not put it down. It stays in my hands

I haven't built an animal house yet so this may be a dumb question but is there a particular spot where you have to stand and hit the 'E' key they way it worked in Portia?

I just tried it again and now it did work.... maybe you have to wait a couple of days?

I have the same issue. When you try to put it down in the stable you just get a message that says "unbuilt" so I put my baby Yak back in a storage box until this gets fixed. Please do not tell the ASPCA :)

Weird. For what it's worth (please note I am not disputing your experiences) I placed a barn and was able to place my Yak Calf with no issues.

After verifying the issue persists through a game restart, You might want to report it as a bug. Hopefully with sending a save game that is effected.

I just figured it out. I play on Steam Deck so I don't know what buttons you need to push on PC.

I held the baby yakmel in my hands and hit the R1 shoulder button.

I had that problem, except that I had built a Stable, not a Barn. He needs a barn, the one with the little fence around it. Stables are for mounts. Are you sure you built the right one?
