And as a nice bonus that makes 100% geological sense as they must be poorly sorted aggregate eroded from parent rock and only lightly consolidated, and Quartz is tough enough to survive all that :)
No clue on other Blood stone sources though.
You should pick up some quartz just digging in Ruins. Bloodstone also has a slight chance to drop from breaking crates along the railway and slight chance from monsters generally (as do opal and flourite). Key word there is slight. Like maybe 1 in 10, 1 in 20 maybe.
Flourite is kind of in limited Supply, You can go through it fast if you are not careful.
Most other rocks have a steady source (Opal, Rosestone, Lapiz Luzil, Bloodstone) that respawns every 2-3 days.
I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to research/build one.
As opposed to Opal which is used for machines, Lapis Luzil for Furnature (I think) and rosestone for weapons).
I cringe when I see Iron Hinges commission for Perfet.
