As for Jute, I believe the raw Jute (not twine) is only used to make the rattan chair and rattan table, Those are optional gift items at best. So I feel Jute can be avoided until later on when planting is unlocked to get it.

Canvas, made from jute and plastic, is a common daily commission. You can get the plastic scrap from piles over the bridge or the one pile in the junk yard. And Jute is either grown with cantaloupe from seeds from Zeke or you can just buy the Jute directly from the moisture farm store.
