Cooking Help
So the mysterious stranger wants me to cook something.

I've been avoiding cooking so far since I have no idea what to do. For this recipe I'm supposed to have bone based broth and noodles made from flour. I have no idea how to make those things or where to get them and it has a time limit and the in game help is not so helpful on what I'm supposed to do.

Please help kThx!

I agree. I took on the challenge and made 17 plates of food scrapes, before I got it. His description is more like a riddle. So you know you need flour and his spice, that's two of the five ingredients you need. He says bone broth, go for the meat on the bone and he says tender meat, so another kind of meat as well. Then he says leafy vegetable, not herbs, and there was only one I could buy from the ranch that fit the bill, thank leafy vegetable for cattle. This can be made on the simple cook station, not the advanced one.

But more -- how do I use the cooking station at all? The tutorial for it just talks about "after you unlock recipes" which I haven't done yet. I have no idea what to do.

Okay I figured it out. For posterity --

The tabs at the top that let you experiment are at the top when you open the cooking pot. It's not in the usual place like with other machines. There's a cooking pot and a steamer you can use to start.

Also unlike other machines it seems for the cooking pot the ingredients can't be in chests. You have to actually pick them up and have them in your inventory. So I'm not sure which things I have are valid ingredients unless I pick them up.

The recipe seems to indicate that you need to make it in stages (i.e., make noodles, make bone broth, then use those as ingredients). That is not the case. You just put all five ingredients in (don't forget the seasoning like I did!) and out pops the result.

Also "animal bones" are not the thing you make bone broth from.

Here's the recipe if anyone still needs it.

Remember, you can only get the pepper blend from the Mysterious Man once (for now anyway). So use the pepper blend wisely.

First, do not use the first sheet (the one with recipes), click on the second (the one with the cooking pot and others tools.
Click on the cooking pot to select it, then on the lateral options choose the ingredients (Flour, Meat, Rib Meat, Alfafa) and the temper at the second sheet (from this options).
Don't worry with the bones, they come with the Rib Meat (you'll have to kill some Yaks to it, it's a rare drop). Alfafa need to be purchased at Blue Moon or By The Stais.

I failed this quest. I still don't understand how to get the ingredients into the pot. Or what bones to use for bone broth. Or where the noodles come from. Now everyone in town keeps rubbing it in that I screwed up. I was frantically looking online for help, but all I found was the recipe, not how to actually use the cook stove for it.

If you can read a previous save, try do what I put above.
Note: you must have all ingredients on your bag, that anoying tool don't take from your boxes.

When you are experimenting to learn a recipe then the items must be in your bag - this quest is an experimental recipe. Once you learn a recipe then you can queue up multiples of the same thing and that will pull from your chests.
Click second tap
Click on the pot
Add the ingredients like so...Rib meat, flour, alfalfa, meat, then add the seesai pepper blend
cook and that is all.

Necroing this thread because I ran into an issue with the quest - I can't find leafy vegetables anywhere.

The ranch shop only sells young animals. The farm shop doesn't have salad or cabbage. Neither has the general shop nor the mystery merchant shop or the hydroplant have anything that looks right.

I just started farming too, so there is nothing growing on my field that fits the description.

(It's the Mystery Merchant's very first visit on 20th of summer year 1.)

You're looking for alfalfa. Think both shops sell it.

Thank you very much - I found it! I had figured most of the recipe out but I'd never thought that was supposed a leafy vegetable ^^' And I hadn't even checked out the Blue Moon shop outlet yet.

Anyway cooking successful! I like that it is less stressing than in the original Portia game.
