The tabs at the top that let you experiment are at the top when you open the cooking pot. It's not in the usual place like with other machines. There's a cooking pot and a steamer you can use to start.
Also unlike other machines it seems for the cooking pot the ingredients can't be in chests. You have to actually pick them up and have them in your inventory. So I'm not sure which things I have are valid ingredients unless I pick them up.
The recipe seems to indicate that you need to make it in stages (i.e., make noodles, make bone broth, then use those as ingredients). That is not the case. You just put all five ingredients in (don't forget the seasoning like I did!) and out pops the result.
Also "animal bones" are not the thing you make bone broth from.

Remember, you can only get the pepper blend from the Mysterious Man once (for now anyway). So use the pepper blend wisely.
Click on the cooking pot to select it, then on the lateral options choose the ingredients (Flour, Meat, Rib Meat, Alfafa) and the temper at the second sheet (from this options).
Don't worry with the bones, they come with the Rib Meat (you'll have to kill some Yaks to it, it's a rare drop). Alfafa need to be purchased at Blue Moon or By The Stais.
Note: you must have all ingredients on your bag, that anoying tool don't take from your boxes.
Click on the pot
Add the ingredients like so...Rib meat, flour, alfalfa, meat, then add the seesai pepper blend
cook and that is all.
The ranch shop only sells young animals. The farm shop doesn't have salad or cabbage. Neither has the general shop nor the mystery merchant shop or the hydroplant have anything that looks right.
I just started farming too, so there is nothing growing on my field that fits the description.
(It's the Mystery Merchant's very first visit on 20th of summer year 1.)

Thank you very much - I found it! I had figured most of the recipe out but I'd never thought that was supposed a leafy vegetable ^^' And I hadn't even checked out the Blue Moon shop outlet yet.
Anyway cooking successful! I like that it is less stressing than in the original Portia game.
