Romance conversation options
I have a VERY stupid question.
What exactly do the heart conversation options do? I figure they would lead you down the path of romance with the character, but it is never explained anywhere. Also, I thought you needed to give them the heart knot to officially start dating?
So what does clicking them actually do in game terms? More points? Actual romance path?

I'm asking, because I just finished the Trial by Kiln quest. I wanted to romance Amirah, but after choosing the romance option, it sounded a bit like I clicked the first option instead (Let's fire it up!), when I hadn't. The cutscene did seem a tad romantic though, so maybe it just unlocked that?

I guess there is two options, or it unlocks the path or it only gives more points, but still need the Heart Knot.

I don't think they do more than add flavor at this time, Arvio's reverse confession triggered for me even though I was careful not to select any romance options for him (although at that point, the heart option was going to start a romance with him, but before that...)

I still think it would be great if the heart options could be made to be like a requirement for unlocking reverse confessions (kind of like affection points in Trio of Towns). Something that hasn't been tested is whether or not those options up your chances of a heart knot being accepted, so there's that, too...

I have picked the heart option every time it comes up for every character.
So far it hasn't seemed to do anything special for anyone except get you a different dialogue from the character, and generally it's just them kinda brushing you off.

So, to answer your question, I don't think it does anything yet.

I chose the heart options when Nia visited and I'd be curious if she departs in a less flirtatious manner. Mostly since the heart option is sending the "I'm missing you" message.

Oh yeah, good point. I wondered if that was default or not as well.
It was really cute, either way.

Thanks for the answers!
So I guess we really don't truly know what the heart means yet or if it is fully implemented yet. I suppose it gives you some extra lines and such at the moment at least. I can live with that!

It gave me some extra lines with Owen, Amyra and Fang, and I'm trying very much NOT to talk to Arvio (he's not a bad person, but I allways had trouble to deal with those inconsequential carefree people) so I didn't chose the heart on his history. I guess I'll see if there is some diference.

You need to keep in mind hardly of the romance has been added to the game. When the rating says Very low / Low they are not kidding. Id say hold off on the romance until they do a big update on it.

Clicking it only seems to trigger a notation saying "[Character[ is aware of your interest in them" or something to that effect. I still have no idea if that actually changes anything or if it's just a (currently) pointless alert.

It does.... If you choose the flirt option with them, it triggers them to confess their interest in you, and you'll start dating if you accept.

I'm not sure which characters have a confession in the game but uhhhhhhhhh.... some do. So that's what the heart option does for them.

The "romance options" are for now, important regarding some quests with some characters (like Logan, Amirah, Heidi etc.). Characters that can confess to you all have one quest that if you replied with a certain number of romantic options, will declare their love to you. Except that, these options seem to have no importance.

There's also one character who if you use I am pretty sure their first ever heart option it throws you in to dating them, Unsuur I'm looking at you so besides affecting the reverse confessions that can happen too.

Well, Unsurr will confess his love even if you didn't choose the heart options, but in this case he will say that he knows that is a one-sided love. I hope he finds someone that really loves him someday.

All I know is I love that adorkable rockmuppet.

Unsuur is the greatest character of all. He makes me think of Linus from the Peanuts. I adore him, however, I will never marry him as it would be too creepy. He is like a favorite brother.
