There are a number of brown wooden treasure chests to be found in and around Sandrock which contain some useful items when starting the game.

Don't forget to take a feather duster with you when you have one. Also a gun or throwing rocks are useful for those hard to get chests.

If you see any discrepancies or find additional chests (not the white ones which are found in caves and ruins), please let me know here so that the information can be updated.

Cant verify the Moisture farm, Mt Sandrock, Eufaula desert - Bottom of sand hill oasis. Can verify Great Mesa, Paradise Lost, Underneath the wooden bridge in the gully (I think labeled Down Under) - Items: Learned to make Milk Chestnut, There is a valley next to Mt. Rocksand, if you follow its left side entering there is a chest you need the feather duster for in nook there (items - Armor Display Piece 4), There is another, just on the other side of the sub that needs feather duster (Items - sharpening stone), Eufaula Desert (Armor Piece 5), Largest Skeleton (Item is learned to make fish porridge). If I find any additional I will comment more.

Unless they added it in a patch after I was already searching that area.

There's one floating above the game center and also one floating between that and the tunnel. Do you know of others?

How to get the chests above the stone archway & side wall

I've been asked on WIKI how to get these, answering here to share the info.

Both of these can be tricky.
They took me quite a few goes (I'm a useless platform gamer) but it's worth it, especially the archway chest. These are the solutions that worked for me.

STONE ARCHWAY ~ Next to Amirah's pottery shop

DO A SAVE FIRST !!

• From the corner of the Church patio
  
• jump across the steps below onto the blue roof
  
• then go to the top of the stone archway
  
• drop down to a lower stone ledge
  
• carefully walk along the stone ledge to the center of the arch.
  
• the chest is inside the alcove and not easily seen until you are very near it.

Firing range behind Civil Corps and Unsuur's house.. beat the firing range minigame starting at the duck - you get a treasure chest with a yakboy horn decoration item. I started it again and hit the targets with a sword so you probably don't need a gun (or throwing rocks)
