Personal preference feedback - Do the eye bags bother anyone else?
I feel that this was an unnecessary feature to add and I would personally rather be penalized for staying up late with having reduced stamina or something else. In Portia I am used to going to bed around 1 or 2 and it's just odd to me that I would have to adjust to looking like a raccoon my entire play through because I prefer to stay up later.

I don't mind if there is a penalty as many games of this genre have something, but it's just my personal opinion that the blatantly large dark circles are not a great feature... at the very least the eye bags could look a tad more realistic and not as exaggerated.

Just wanted to voice that opinion and see what others thought about it. :)

Nice to hear that. In our plan, we want to be more simulation setting in Sandrock. as you know, Sandrock has a harder and more challenging surroundings, builders needs to wisely arrange your stamina, and have a schedule. That's why we have a late sleeping penalty.
However, we're very open to this, if most of you don't like it, we'll try to find a better way. So, let us know your ideas, eyebags, stay up late penalty.....etc, anything related to the sleeping or stamina, looking forward to your opinions.

Bags under the eyes have medical reasons not related to sleep. Weaker tissues in the area allow fluid and fat to fill the area. It can also be caused by allergies and other medical conditions that cause fluid to be retained in the area and body in general.

Dark circles under the eyes CAN be due to lack of sleep but is largely due to genetics and can also be due to a number of medical conditions. Some people can regularly skip sleep and never get dark circles. The direct causes are similar to bags, thinner skin allowing pooled fluids to be seen through the skin. A couple common causes of dark circles are allergies and aging and even simple pigmentation(Meaning literally noting can be done to prevent it).

I don't think the game needs to perpetuate the stereotype of dark circles being self inflicted. Many people can do nothing about it and yet a stigma is attached to it. Perfect example being someone in this thread saying their character looked like a drug addict simply for having the eye darkening.

I agreed with some about the eyebags if you stay up late. For me it adds to the game. So I like this idea

I feel like eye bags, since it is cosmetic, should be a feature that you can enable or disable like with hats.

Personally, I was very excited to see those eye bags. Even more excited when I realized that that they actually get darker if you keep going to sleep late. It's just a cosmetic penalty but, at least for me, a realistic one - my own eye bags get worse if I don't have enough sleep. And I was always wondering how is it possible for characters in other video games of this sort to sleep for 4-5h and feel great in the morning.

Agreed with what you said. I like the eyebags, make me feels more relatable to the character.

I think some of us will look like that irl when this gets released.

Sorry, but I loathe the eye bags. I don't even think it's realistic for a lot of players. The character is about 18 years old, and gets to bed at 1am only to wake up with eye bags resembling a raccoon. Suuurrrre. But, since some players seem to like them, I believe a choice would be the best solution, like the hat option.

Doesn't bother me one bit, as I really only ever see the back of my characters head, anyway. If people hadn't posted about it, I probably literally would never even have known they were there.

I'm also of the age where when I started playing video games, my character was that square of pixels. I mean, it's NICE to be able to pick how your character looks, but it would literally mean nothing to me if my character was just a stick figure, as long as the game is fun.

I don't like the eye bags either. I like continuity of relating MTAP with MTAS in the images in the game. I love MTAP very much and have played it over and over again. It is really fun, not many complications at all. The monsters I kill don't remind me of real animals too much, and the images are not so real as to think I am on a killing spree. Lol, I love the ease of which the days can go by, and are quite normal and relatable, as my personal life is really busy. But I do love the heroism and challenge of fighting the 'baddies'.

The eye bags seem to make the player character look like a dead person. The game is quite competitive when you run out the door in the mornings and have to beat Mian by only a matter of seconds to get to the more profitable orders. I was surprised by these two changes. The eye bags penalty, forcing me having to go to bed early enough not to get them , and the running to beat Mian. But I am figuring that the developers may be only joking about these as they are so different from the diplomacy that MTAP has, so I will wait and see.

I like constancy and the relatable. I like to think that MTAP is very much a cultural time which is spread across the cities in the game. That not too much is different, but the crises that they face certainly may be different. I like the MTAP game because I had choices. If a child is playing the MTAS game I could possibly think having to be made to go to bed might even be acceptable, but as an adult builder in the game, who is trying to make a profitable up and coming business in MTAS the eye bag coercion to go to bed early lest your face gets uglier is a bit unnecessary I think. lol. Going on a date with black eyes, and everyone in town telling you that you look tired or need rest etc is a bit too personal for me. The consequences for me staying up late and gaming is already felt in real life. Why have to answer to this when I'm playing such a lovely game? In real life I often love playing MTAP up until all hours of the morning, and thank goodness I don't have anyone to tell me that I look like crap the next day! LOl. Makeup is good. lol.

In real life, I am wondering if having the eye bags in the MTAS game may have an affect in real life, on my psyche to stop my game and just go to bed . Maybe this a health opportunity from the developers for the little ones who play the game?
In MTAP, Just squeezing in that last crazy burst of seratonin that makes me ride on the wind of happiness in the game in real life, is to find that in the MTAP game, I can just drop down to find myself in bed and safe in the morning . This gives me a choice as to taking the initiative if I want to go to bed earlier the next day.

Anyway I could be talking through my hat, as the MTAS demo is not to necessarily think that it will be so different from MTAP. The eye bag situation may very well not exist and just be a game trial/ challenge for the gamers to submit feedback and therefore the devs adjust their game which is to to try on us for all sizes. After all, it did say in the demo that the demo is not the final result of the developing game. We can watch from the sidelines and wait and see what is in store for us.

I am wondering just how different this game_MTAS, will be to MTAP .

I will be watching very closely. A lot is being offered with this next game!!!

I am looking forward to examining the likeness of MTAS and its differences to MTAP !!!
MTAP really has a magic and a success story to it. It pleased so many who bought this game! I am certainly hoping MTAS will be another new notch in success for all the amazing work that the developers have put into the game! Whoah! How cool! :-D . I can't wait!!!! :-D

In terms of avoiding the visible effect with the eyebags, Arvio sells concealer in his store for 20 bucks or something like that. It removes the eyebags for the rest of the day. You don't get the normal buffs for sleeping well but it'll make your character look normal on screenshots etc.

The eyebags are fine to me. It's only a visual effect and doesn't bother me at all.
You might make it a toggle in the options (tiredness effect yes/no) in the options because that way everyone will be happy.

Maybe a buff for sleeping early? I prefer not having a debuff that effects your stamina or something like that to sleeping late.

The debuff is only cosmetic (panda eyes and your character yawning a bit). If you sleep before midnight you get two buffs the next day.

Oh good to know! It has been a while since I played so I didn't know about the buffs.

I did hate the eyebags at first, but since then I've started going to bed a lot earlier just because I run out of stamina long before midnight anyway, so now I rarely get them. The only gripe I have about them is that they can ruin unexpected photo opportunities/events that may occur the day you have them, because you won't have the forethought to use makeup to cover them if you don't know the photo op/cutscene is coming up. I think making them optional is a great idea though.

To be fair, you always had to beat Higgins to get the best commission in MTAP. That hasn't changed at all. Except I actually like Mi-an, so I'm okay with her taking the best stuff occasionally, haha. xD

When I played the demo I created a player that had the look of the eye bags, I couldn't figure out how to do the eye makeup right and I came out looking like I had been punched in the face with two black eyes, the look made me feel uncomfortable, like I looked liked a victim of dv, it bothered me so much that I created a new player without eye makeup, so I don't want to walk around looking like that for a sleep penalty in the game.
