As long as I can ignore her, i'm fine with her being a rival. I ignored higgans most of the time anyways as well.
You keep using the term "mary sue". I don't think it means what you think it means. Because it in no way applies to her.
Oh, so what are her flaws? Please tell me she turns into an actual angry rival that secretly tries to sabotage our workshop or something, that would actually be pretty cool.
Over enthusiastic, naive, a bit flighty. Possibly too dedicated to her work.
Okay, you definitely don't know what "mary sue" means. It's not just a likeable character. She's not an author-insert character that's perfect, loved by everyone, and succeeds at everything she does.
Regardless, I don't want to argue. If you like her, awesome! I think she's a bit too perfect and i'm hoping she's not more important to the story than any other npc, but i haven't played more than the demo, so i can't say for sure. As i said before, as long as I can ignore her and have her just be another builder (obviously past the intro quest), I'm okay with that.
Have a good one all, i'm going to turn off responses to this thread, i don't want to start drama.
Whatever you say, boss. Keep clinging to the idea that your assessment was right even when shown evidence that it was wrong. I mean, dude, I'm not telling you you can't dislike her. Just that your assessment of her being a "mary sue" is objectively incorrect. You're stretching the meaning of the term to a laughable extreme to even begin to make it applicable to her.
thanks for the response. I can see where you're coming from for sure. For me, she seems a bit too perfect/nice and as i said, her "flaws" aren't especially flaws in my opinion. Being too nice or naive aren't generally considered flaws to a lot of people. I think it's very clear that she's meant to be an important, likable character.
I think it was as you put it the "tooth-rotting sweet" that made me shake my head and cringe. Again though, i didn't mean to cause drama, my original post was way too aggressive sounding, i was honestly just venting with how sweet/perfect she is. i'll still enjoy the game regardless, i'll just not make building a relationship with her a priority, so she won't affect my experience much at all. I'll leave her to those that like that type of character.
that would be the only thing that would kill this game for me lol. Higgins was hilarious to me just because of how silly he was but i could ignore him when i wanted to. If Mi-an is forced on the main character throughout the entire story, that might annoy me more than it should. Maybe i should just embrace the perfection that is mi-an lol. she might grow on me.
That one priest for example, Miguel, I think, said "I'm the brains of this operation".
Just curious, don't you find her a tiny bit like Emily? I really liked Emily though, don't have an opinion on Mi just yet. Out of all the runs I've done on Portia, Emily is the *only* character I actually go out of my way to max BFF on. Just cause I think she actually acts like one :D
Even when I was test running a romance comparison from Gust to Arlo (someone said in the forums that Gust just walks off in the desert and is abusive, Arlo actually does the *exact* same thing, it's an overall date thing not a character reaction thing) I still BFF Emily.
I also looked at little sideways at Mi but it's because of Higgins in truth, for me, and not because of her. If that makes sense.
