Honestly, your best bet in the mid-term will either be DLC for JA3 or folks who mod new campaigns (V1.5 just unleashed a lot of modding tools).

2028, game engine, game files, story, enemy ai, artwork, voice, music, video all wriiten with something like OpenAi Sora.
Anyone remember what came after JA1? Deadly Games was like playing Ai generated game. The missions were generated by Ai. The maps were variations of the same bunch of maps; but imagine if Ai is now able to generate new maps?
I've been looking at new modding tools. Campaign, Map, and Quest editors. Granted I've not modded a game in near 20 years... slow going... The modding tools are very powerful, but complex. Full new campaign with new maps and quests will probably require a team of modders. That said modding options are extensive, cutscenes, cinematics, environmental changes lot of possibilities.
Wow, it’s great to know that the tools are powerful and that there is interest! Is there any way that non-technical people can help?
As playtesters at some point.
But it's going to be a while before we see anything campaign sized or flavored. More likely folks will be converting crudely put together mods (before tools existed) into more robust a and flexible ones using the new tools.
So get used to Grand Chien. It will be the batting practice the modders use to truly change the game.

But thank god it was successful enough that we still get support and we can talk about a potential sequel and DLC. It took a LONG TIME before they were able to make a good JA game after JA 2
