Is there a limit for amount of mercs?
I actually have 17 in total and cannot hire anymore.

Since i got no answer i try again. Is the limit for mercs you can hire 17?

16 if you count the IMP created merc.

im not sure if there is any other limit on how many mercs can you have past the 15 default limit.

I remember trying to form 3 6-merc squads at some point and couldn't. So yeah the limit reported here sounds accurate. Odd that AIM doesn't want my money.

I hit the hire limit and then got an extra one by recruiting a character in game, the limit seems to only apply to hirable ones.

Which *deep sigh* I guess makes Smiley worthwhile.

The A.I.M. Merc limit is 15. It looks how many A.I.M. Merc are already hired, and cuts off after 15. Your own Merc is free of course.

I like hiring many mercs and alternating between them, at least when it becomes affordable. Plus I can carry multiple missions at once this way.

I was that way in JA2 also, which did have a greater variety of mercs of course.

I'm soon to fill up my second squad and having second functional squad indeed made my progress with main way less constricted.
WHICH CHEATING tool are you using, because there are 5 or so mines , WHICH RUNNING DRY and one mine will bring around 7000 , when fully upgraded ... I have the cheapest crew and my free char and one mine, at first I had + 1800.- , but every 14days they also want around 30 000 for the new contracts ... the better mercs cost 5-10 times that ...

Soon my first mine is dry , okay have at least 4 more to conquer, but with 18 mercs , who are even a lot more expensive, not possible to play longer s maybe 90 days, before all mines are closed ...

is there a mine , which works forever or using the workshop cheats ?

No cheating tools, just vanilla, initially I only had 1 squad of 6 (4 cheap AIM mercs + 1 IMP + Ivan), I beelined for the 1st mine which shockingly run dry way too soon, but then conquered the 3 next (including the commie one and the one in the upper-west corner) and made sure they are operating at max capacity, those lasted for a while. Add in robbing diamond shipments and after some time I had over 1 million in the bank. With that much money I could hire whoever I wanted and keep them going for a while, even after the other mines started running dry.

Do note, I do agree that all mines running dry is plain stupid thematically and restricts several playstyles. If you would rather avoid that I have also tested a mod called evermine, which seems to make mines not deplete. I am concerned it unbalances the game's economy big time, as you already get a lot of money, but if you want peace of mind to experiment you can try it.

I hit the limit naturally, while genuinely wanting to recruit more mercs. There was a quest that seemed really important with a tight time limit which required hitting a whole bunch of objectives in different directions, which I triggered while my main squad had just painted itself into a corner by sailing to a spot with no port and needing to do several fights to extract itself.

As a result I wanted 3 squads running and I had a couple of mercs out doing logistics (One person squads training militia, ferrying quest items to their destinations and so on)

Oh that's lame thought it would have an achievement to hire all mercs at once, guessing only enough hireable ones to fill 3 groups, and then the extra free ones, or maybe just 3 groups total doh

15 + Larry + imp = 17
