I found Fauda to be pretty good. 10% extra XP for the whole squad, full free move with heavy gear, grit on hitting multiple enemies, less explosive damage when prone which you often are with machine guns, better acc for multiple attacks on the same opponent. Also both Livewire and Fox loved her, constantly commenting how cool she is and how they wanna be like her.

A mod to remove old man blocking xp would be welcome

But when Fox talk about the fact she badass, " What about my ass ? "
This Peshmerga can gain grit if she belong in a good position and fire with an RPK 74 ( or minimi ) at multiple targets, she have to move a lot ( you need to read book ), very interesting gameplay, tactic and strategic

For pure overwatch Grunty is the best he already have two perks; Beefup and Vanguard

Well, obviously Ivan is the best and second to none with +AP each time he kills someone.

But he got a bit boring after using him as a main character in JA1 and 2 so I switched him out with Meltdown. Her talent is similar, even though not as strong and she's versatile.

Grunty's good too, but his talent doesn't improve machine guns and he belongs in Ivan's squad imo.

I find Grizzly to be annoying, so there aren't many mercs left that specialize in heavy weapons.

Fauda has an amazing unique talent, unfortunately she has the Old Dog trait and her stats aren't that high to begin with. Also she is already Level 7 and I prefer merc that I can level up myself so I can choose the perks.

I hope there will be an addon with more mercs soon.

I like using Ivan for this, but I wish his dialog was readable. I get that he's Russian, and the dialog is cyrillic, but I feel like I get to know the personality of other mercs based on *reading* what they say. He's still a black box.

HEY DUMBASS, I'm Done!

No, just use Meltdown, it's just like talking to your wife, she's honest, complains a lot, tells you how things really are, hurls insults at you; but in this life, so long as you have money, she will never leave you.

Problem of building a pure machine gunner build is that I want to take Collateral Damage perk(which I can choose after I took at least 3 STR perks), but there is not enough STR based perks for machine gunners other than "Recoil Management". This seems to be a obvious mistake of design.

Considering this, Fauda can make "Ironclad" perk useful with her trait, and her high explosive stat somewhat justifies taking "Breach And Clear" perk as well. But in the other hand, she will need a lot of magazines for 90 STR as she is an old dog, and she cannot have juicy defensive perks in HLT perks as she is already LVL 7.

I've had Ivan talking to squad mates, even though not as much as others, now that I think about it. I do remember a dialog where Grunty gives Ivan a present (don't want to spoil the dialog).

Which talents? He get's 3 AP per kill so it's an obvious decision to give him the weapon that gets the most kills per turn.

MGs don't need benefit from any perk, just Minimi mops the floor with entire squads, any merc with autogun trait simply obliterates groups of enemies. And Ivan is bonkers, short barrel make a burst cost 3 APs, he literally cannot end his overwatch.

Well, no, I lied. The double overwatch shooting is insane with MG.

I agree, the STR perks tree is in general only great for mercs that use both shotgun and melee. And even then, the one machine gun trait at the end is useless.
And for melee, the second and third tier critical chance improvements overlap, so one of them is also useless.
These perks should be more generalized for other weapons or they could add an additional tree.
