Unlock Auto-resolve?

how do i unlock this, i dont really want to play every single encounter in real time, its always greyed out.

You need more numbers than the enemy or higher levels .

No, you can only autoresolve wandering enemies. Enemies fixed at the sector cant be autoresolved

Right you can autoresolve skulls but not say Outposts with scripted events etc .

hmm, thats annoying, i was hoping to only play the story missions, the sector combat gets boring after a while, its the same thing over and over

Oddly enough, I can never auto-resolve in the starter town... I have a team stationed there just to train the militia, but I can't ever auto-resolve.

Does it use ammo?
Should I always auto resolve if I can to conserve ammo/meds/etc?

Village of Ernie? Happens to me right now. I have Veteran militias and prepare mercs to retrain them. So I just move the squad to the adjacent sector when the Legion is about to arrive, and use Auto-Resolve then move to town back again to retrain militia casualties.
