Can you customize appearances of characters

No. Devs were too lazy to do it. So your mercs will look same all the time. Enjoy.

ITs JAgged Alliance... There are set characters like in all the other jagged alliance games, and they have their own personas.
YOu can make one custom character in IMP, but i dont even do that, i like the various characters they have to offer.
Doesnt have anything to do with lazy.... This isnt the sims.

I don't really care. I was asking if you'd do it here because based on the images and the video, I thought about half of them looked goofy. The cowboy for example. Immersion ending in my opinion.

The images for both custom and set characters are all from 1980s action hero movies and tropes.
If you weren't alive in the 1980s, you won't "get" them.

If these characters in this game are giving you an immersion ending problem, I believe you are trying to "dive" into the wrong game. 🙂

It has nothing to do with laziness. Choosing unique appearances for the mercs instead of having them be adaptable to what they wear was a conscious design choice to avoid having a squad of look-alikes due to players trying to kit out all their mercs with the best gear.

Yeah i think its a good choice. Its nice that the modded weapons show tho.

I don't agree with that choice, really. In Back in Action, it's satisfying to actually see the gear you equip on your mercs. In 3, I forget I even have any gear on and don't really care. With newer versions of JA2 1.13 (logical bodytypes enabled), even JA2 has this feature to an extent.
