Understanding "quests" (H9, Smiley, Trinkets...)

I am trying to figure out the UI and how the game wants me to approach quests and exploration so here I don't know if I am lost, if I am being dumb, if I am missing a clue, if I am struggling against the interface, or if there is a bug.

I am at a point where I have two "leads" for H9, which is the eastern plart of Fleatown.
One says that there may be hints about Smiley in H9, and the other called "The Necklace in the chairs" says "Someone at Fleatown Market (H9) is looking for a missing trinket.

Now I am under the impression that I have talk to every single NPC and villager over and over multiple times, and that no one is looking for a missing trinker, or they are not saying.

Also, Smiley is clearly locked up in an inaccessible part of the church in the west part of Fleatown (H8) so what is going on with H9 and that quest?

In short, there are many loose ends I cannot tie and I'd like some help in figuring out if I am just lagging while trying to understand the game logic, or are these known issues or anything else.

In case anyone has the same problem, the person that you need to speak to is *Lalee* in H9. I messed up the first time that I talked to him and so I didn't get the quest for the chairs. I went back a few times and all he was offering were loot boxes. However, I spoke with him with another merc and he asked if I wanted a loot box or *Information*. If you ask him for information and then ask him for *how to get rich*, he will tell the story about the chairs. I'm not sure if you need a certain high skill to get him to speak about the chairs, but the prompt you want is *how to get rich*.

WIth Smiley's quest, you have to go all over the place to get to Smiley in the House of Spirits. I don't remember everyone, but you had to go to Lys Rouge in Pantagruel (D7) and maybe Rimville (I9), where Mollie is. Also, maybe speak with Sangoma in the Refugee Camp (E9).
