What are the best ways to get money after diamond mines run out?
I'm new to the franchise and I'd like to get some elite mercs but I'm super frugal and afraid to spend money, now that I know mines can run dry. 10 hours in and I'm still rocking with my 6 original people.

I'm only using 4 since the beginning so far and my cash always runs negative most of the time just to keep Ivan mostly

I couldn't imagine just running with 4. So far I got a LMG, 2 sharpshooters, 1 shotgunner/smg, 2 AK's and if I do perfect planning I can easily wipe out the entire squad / half squad before combat commences.

Yeah its getting pretty tough probably cause i hired ivan since the beginning one of the most expensive good mercs, but yeah i wouldn't know what to do after the mines deplete wish we could sell gear like we could in the older ones not sure why they detoured away from that

I would say the best way to stay with a positive cash flow is to not hire too aggressively. The cheapest tab of mercs are pretty good. Get that first diamond mine then take the closest town and two forts then go for another mine.

I went with 3 AIM mercs from the cheap tab and the IMP merc for the starting island then I added another doctor and mechanic and then eventually 2 more combat mercs. After taking Fleawhatever I am making more money per day then I am burning in wages and still getting the occasional cash boost from hacking/quests/selling ♥♥♥♥.

theres a mod in the steam workshop that makes it so mines never run out of diamonds.

Gotta apply that. Because I received a notification my first mine is getting lower. And I'm not the guy who likes to rush everywhere, I like to stay, to R&R, to craft, to train mercs, militia which all of that takes time and money.

Money is basically never a concern if you don't hire expensive merc. Expensive mercs are not needed at all. You can train cheap mercs and turn them into elite. I recommend Barry (he is op and covers explosive), Livewire (might as well get the highest mechanic stat recruit), Fox, and maybe Mouse or MD. When you need the 6th slot just hire Wolf, he saves time in operation and works well with Fox. Decent all rounder that can do everything. Use IMP merc to train all their marksmanship in one go. All of these are good once you get their marksmanship above 80 then you never really need training again. Then give everyone a good modded sniper rifle.

The only combat stat you need is actually just agi, dex, and marksmanship. There's a lot of more expensive merc who doesn't even start with good stats for those 3, therefore Fox and Mouse is actually OP because you only need to train their marksmanship.

And one point to notice is merc is usually cheaper if you make a longer contract, it can save quite a lot of money
WeamDreaver Jul 16, 2023 @ 12:17am
But cheap mercs are getting more expensive with each new contract.
For example, the third time I renewed the contract with Kalyna, she costs more than double.
The first two times it was 14 days for about 5000. The third time it was over 10000.

This what I did except I never got Wolf. I think it was 2-3 training runs while I was on the first island that got all their marksmanship up to 80+ and now these cheap mercs perform like veterans at a lower cost.

Training in JA3 does seem to be a little bit powerful.

Haha yeah and those cheap merc that start with insanely high dex and agi are simply op after a little marksmanship training. My game is bugged or something the Dragunov seller respawned his merch so now I have 2 Dragunov with Thermal scope. Now my whole team is using silenced sniper and 4 of them has thermal scope (2 Dragunov and 2 m24, the rest Winchester) no enemy can ever approach me without getting sniped to death. Headshots are super accurate with aim boost. Stealth Fox can solo some maps already or kill most enemies before battle start.

Only time I ever get damaged are those scripted battle like the abandoned mansion ambush at night, because the enemy started right beside me, but sometimes it doesnt matter, burst fire Dragunov one shot everything at close range. I dont think anything can survive Dragunov's burst headshot.

As it was in JA2. Now if you know where to find free mercs in JA3 - you can do the same as in JA2: Start with your IMP merc, train up with paid mercs.. then go for a solo ride around and gather the band together.

Then you ahve a team that costs 0$. Which you can train within said team. Have fun!

It's kinda broken that there are 2 tabs of mercs you're not supposed to touch though, isn't it?

I mean, I don't mind a challenge, but it sounds like a ton of wasted content.

After all mines run out you will have more money than you could possibly spend
mr_oluap Jul 17, 2023 @ 1:52am
Intercepting ennemy diamond courriers is guarented 12 000 $.

I'm not sure if they are in limited amount and if it's required to let the ennemy keep some mines to get them spawning ?
