Random challenges during combat?

In Top right corner challenges pop up like "kill 5 with headshots" or "kill 3 with sniper rifle" - along with a merc name. What is the reward for those? Morale or XP for specific merc or money or something else?

The tutorial/help in ESC menu doesnt mention them at all..

My guy got 1 dexterity after completing the challenge and then there was a email from some organization promising to give a reward if I continue completing them.

Ive gotten stat upgrade to the quest giver as well. Some are kinda hard though

My mission was 3 heads hit with +3 aim activated in bunker battle with Steroid. I didn't expect to complete it but somehow managed with several reloads.

Damn.. I think I subconsciously blocked out some of those dialogue boxes since I thought it was more tutorial popup bloat (of which the game does have a fair bit of..)

I finally got a mail with 2000 reward in it after completing several challenges. You also can see how many commendations for the character you got if they die and you get a final letter for them.

My first task was for Livewire to kill everybody with balls shots. "Make them suffer" was the name.

I've gotten +1 to different attributes and once I got a payment of 2000$.

Oh, and my favourite task was the "kill all enemies with groin shots" when facing 12 enemies... looots of groin shots :P

But I managed :)

Just did one with Buns, for a combat task called Ardent Defender. Task description: "Ardent Defender - No merc other than Buns should take wounds from damage this combat." Upon completion, the SNYPE chat box stated: "AIMBot: Gained XP, Buns (384). The rewards seem to be completely random. It may seem that the XP reward is one of the better ones since it is so hard to get that much for one task/activity.

For the sake of those who have not figured it out the Ardent Defender doesn't require the specific merc to take damage just for no one else to.

First task i ever did was the Point Blank Combat task for Buns. She was setup as a sniper, to shoot the enemy from a safe distance; but doing this task opened up my eyes to other gameplay strategies using pistol, melee, SMG, AR, LMG and explosives.
