how moddable is this game really?
I have nearly all the previous games by the way, this is not a "got you" question

Will there be new missions-maps-total overhaul mods possible?....

how flexible are the mod tools?

So far i have only seen new mercs-weapons, which is good....
Is there any big total overhaul mods coming?

thanks for the answers.

what mods do you recommend?

very moddable, you can do anything you imagine if you know how, yes there are plenty of mercs mods, you can find new content in my workshop, and overhaul I recommend Rato's

thank you !!! , you are a treasure!!!!.

I watched some videos and something i didnt like was the overwatch system.
The cones are too thin , and have to be set each turn for each character manually, that can mean 40 times in 1 fight, the original game made it better, just turn around the on the general direction and no silly cones, is there a solution????

Don't need mod solution if you are flexible, and use LMG to do overwatch.

Lol you are welcome :JA3diamonds: as far as I know, this is just a core mechanic of the game, there is an "interrupt" mechanic but it is different from ja2, it may be possible to implement it but I ain't sure, maybe if a fearless modder read this, let's just hope that such modder exists

@Sir Ni - love your mods! What are your thoughts on new Campaign Mods? Or JA2 recreated in JA3?

After having completed JA3 a couple of times, there is a community of us crying out for new, full campaign mods. I'm not a modder so unfortunately have to rely on those more tehcnically skilled.

I find myslef scanning the workshop weekly for a new campaigns, new maps, new mission overhauls, or the dream...JA2 in JA3!

Would love to know your thoughts?

Thanks for your feedback. Yeah, there are plenty of mercs/weapons mods but no new content. I am working in a new game mode, casual play one campaign map mode, it isn't finished but soon I will give some more love to it. Grand Chien Expanded brings some new content, a few new fights and tie some loose ends. In parallel I am working with someone else that is creating really amazing maps for new content, we have a few projects together, one new small campaign, one epilogue and one prologue (both based on HotDIamonds perfect ending), all are on brainstorming and level creating phase. As for recreating JA2, it would be necessary to bring Arulco to this new engine, it is not a easy task but doable by a group of modders. Also some aspects of the "bring ja2 to ja3" are very vague, are we talking about the maps and npcs? mechanics? you know what I mean?

I'm neither a technical person nor an artsy guy, but with the appropriate tools, I can help with the character art for the NPCs and other characters, if there's a team willing to take up the task of recreating JA2. It's nothing to boast, but here are a few of the WIP art that I've come up so far:

https://ibb.co/vkhC45w (Spider)
https://ibb.co/K76PPpG (Gasket)
https://ibb.co/XF5fc5g (Rothman)
https://ibb.co/Ns6my3t (Danny)
https://ibb.co/cxbwrhW (Bob)
https://ibb.co/J78S8G2 (Lucky)

I already have most of the JA1 and JA2 mercs done, well, I mean, they're still WIP and still subject to polishing. They're not high quality, but they're passable, especially since I tried to keep them as close as possible to the source art. I'm also willing to remaster the audio files. We already have tools for that.

This is very good!:JA3diamonds: Well, you can add me on discord if you want to keep in touch, sirni7923

Thanks for the appreciation. I expressed interest in contributing not only because you are showing interest in remaking JA2 with the proper team, but also because you have the dedication and skills to back it up. Me on the other hand, I’m a total newbie, but I’m willing to learn. But as you probably can tell, I’m a hardcore JA2 fan who wants to be faithful to the source, at least to the best that I can. Just let me know what you need.

Hopefully, permanent (GC-Militia modder), rato, SkunkXL, whahappen, LionCat, Lucja, key and the other fantastic modders that we have (too many to name you all, but you know who you are) would also sign up for it. JA2 won’t port itself.

I probably still have Discord installed on my computer. I will check tomorrow. I’m on my phone right now.

This is music to my ears on the content you are working on! Re your question on what does JA2 to JA3 mean - Im sure Morianthi and other JA2 fans would say the same, but I would love to essentially port over JA2 into JA3 - maps, npc, story, dialogue, helicopter mechanics etc. - but with the modern JA3 combat mechanics - in short, to essentially recreate JA2 as much as possible in JA3.

If that is too much of a heavy lift, I would say maps at a min and bring Arulco to JA3. I would also volunteer my help, for what that is worth as a non-modder.

Thanks for your appreciation. I'm also a JA2Vet but I am open to embrace a new chapter of the AIM mercs, I pity them frozen in time without any chance to move on and finish their adventures in Arulco.

This is easier than bring the JA2 mechanics. The tools to do it are at our disposal. But I assure you that even putting all your effort and good will in such a task, there will still be people out there unhappy with an adaptation like this. I would be glad to help in bringing Arulco to JA3 engine tho.

True JA2 fans would not complain about a port over to JA3, even if it wasnt perfect. I replayed JA2 last year and it surprised me how dated the grapics were (I feel bad for saying anything negative for a game I love). Some of the beauty of JA2, at least in my opinion, is the characters/NPC's, storyline, game / mission mechanics and of course the setting/map - Arulco. Bringing JA2 into the excellent JA3 engine and graphics would be incredible and fans would love it.

If you could bring Arulco to JA3, even the maps, you and whoever helps would become part of the JA legacy.
