Prior to attacking the first fort: Where is Bastien?

I have explored the rewst of the first island and the only shield above the fort left red is "Deal with Bastien and his family". However, I explored every tile and there is no one to be found called Bastien. I read that he should be at the starting beach but there were only a few legion thugs and no one else.
Would hate to leave this unfinished...

In the landing sector, before going up to the villa where Corazon and Emma LaFontaine are, there's a path to a different part of the beach.

Bastien is there, very hard to miss if you explore the map, but I suppose the game does not render him in unless you're close enough.

Afterwards, depending on your choice, he can go to to sector H3 (the one with the bunker) and stands there with his "family" on the path to the fort. Just tell them to drop their guns enough many times.

As Kernest said, there is a path near the Emma LaFontaine house. So instead of going up the hill/cliff, go along the path below that, which leads to a beach.

When you explore maps, make sure you're moving your mercs all over the map, just scrolling around the map and looking you won't see items, they only appear when your mercs get close enough.

Remember, always run through every map with your mercs, you'll find tons of stuff.

Just be careful of landmines.

Also, if you're looking to train your mercs wisdom, you can't do all the exploring with just one guy, one important way to increase your wisdom is to spot herbs.
