I stopped playing when enemy's head exploded from my head-shoot.
Or rather the lack thereof. These kind of BS makes experience of killing completely non-rewarding comparing to old game. If enemy wants to pray instead of blow up or be thrown away for meters back (not to mention exploding heads) then they can do it in church.

Here are some links to to 3 articles (I googled "does playing violent video games impact the behavior of young people in any way?" and chose the 1st 3 listed) with credible sources and with some interesting takes on the subject.

Yup, they've been saying things like that for over 30 years. My first experience with a gory game was in the late 80s. It was a game called Barbarian and the goal was to hack the other player's head off...
Everyone found it hilarious and fun. No one ever took it seriously.

I think video games started to negatively effect some people after about 1995. That's when games truly started to be addictive and competitive. Games that would make you want to skip school or work and neglect your life...

But worst of all are the MMOs, they're designed to keep you hooked and sinking your life in to them. I've seen so much drama, anger, and misery on those silly games.
I'm glad I don't play them anymore.

So... I don't think gore has ever been a big problem for most people. I think it's mostly just the addictiveness of modern games, it makes some people take them too seriously.
Sorry, I guess I rambled a bit off topic.

Dying animation is bad. It does not look like they die from my shots. They kneel like they are going to pray with no sign of damage done to them. I don't feel any impact. Why these new games can't just copy old techniques. Just do it in 2D if you can't handle recreating it in 3D.
The opposite is true. The animations are really good. They make up a good part of the funny, emotional and ironic story. Together with the first-class sounds and dialoges, this results in unique story elements. There is nothing comparable in any other current game. Of course, it is a bit unrealistic in terms of the laws of physics. But hey, I haven't had so many situations in a game that made me smile for a long time. There's so much heart and soul! If you think it's bad, it's certainly not YOUR game, but I think JA3 is really really great.

He's saying the deaths in this game are pathetic compared to Jagged Alliance 2. I agree.
