Either find out about his secret stash in the very first sector (high wisdom - - > you work for the Legion) and then reveal it to his men during the conversation.
Or just tell them to put their motherflipping hands up enough times. Not sure if this requires a merc with the Pyscho trait or not, I just always try to have one.
I found out by testing. They just went hostile cause there were another hostile troop heading to Ernie within H3. If i waited them coming to Ernie, fighting them and then entering H3 Bastien is no longer hostile. Seems to be a little bug.
Yeah, you definitely waited around too long or something.
You can capture Ernie Village, clear the Rust and the minefield sector AND still make it to the fort before that first assault squad is finished and leaves to attack Ernie.
But now Bastien is in the Fort that means i cant attack it until he left? I remember he went to refugee camp usually but not hanging arround at island and fort. This is really stupid!
Yeah, you messed something up by not having dealt with him first AND meeting the assault squad in that sector.
You could either roll with it and just *not* spare Bastien, or start a new game and don't waste so much time before dealing with him in the sector.
There is no particular reason for why you'd need to spare him.
No i did as the games before. At first i let him go, and then at the bunker i let him go. Usually he now goes to refugee camp and not to fort.
If the fort still has the shield (in map screen) that reads something about Bastien's family in H3, then you dealt with them the wrong way.
And now your only choice is to shoot him.
Probably. But i have no idea what went wrong. I usually just spared hin twice as in the games before. And i never met him and his troop at fort. Did something changed within the last updates? I played nearly 5 months ago the last time.
You probably chose the wrong dialogue options.
Can't he go into the Notes section and the Bastien quest to look at what outcomes/results/choices he made. That could help him figure out what went wrong....
It doesn't, or at least it didn't when I did my run (completed a bit before the most recent patch) -- the "hand's up" route was the one I took, and I didn't have anybody with the Psycho trait... for the whole game, I think.
2. But he's sorta Legion too. So when you get into a fight with Legion at bunker entrance, there is a very good chance that he will be dragged into it, regardless of what happened earlier.
3. To avoid accidental shootout best go to him as soon as you enter sector, and conclude dialog before anything else.
4. Don't enter the sector when Pierre's Raiders are going your way, he will be dragged into a fight. Just let them pass through it, and deal with them in the village.
To my knowledge, above didn't actually changed alongside new patches.
Indeed, this is it. I reported it when the game was new, but it was never addressed.
1. In the starting sector, mug him for his diamond but let him live.
2. Make sure you talk to him before you engage the hostile Legion in front of the bunker. When you meet his gang, tell him to pay you instead. Then you have an option to tell the gang that he has been holding out on them or even better, hands up and tell them to drop their guns. Both option always works regardless who you have. He will not show up in the base if you do either. If he turns hostile here, there is no choice but to kill him I think.
