BTW it deleted my mods too
i did delete my saves file, saved it beforehand and started the game after that.
And while the game now starts , it is laggy AF. i started a new testround without mods just vanilla and holy cow does it not work well at all.
i never had these problems before , was running seemlesly before.
now sometimes i get stuck in loadingscreens sometimes not.
i worked a bit with the settings whiche where set to ultra , but no matter how much i lower it ,it still lags AF. Also there was no graphics update so why did it work the last nearly 300 hours and all of a sudden it does not. i also tried some mods and while some again caused the endless loading screen other work just fine. But the performance is from hell no matter if i try with or without mods. btw the only game i have issues with on my computer. so i guess they messed up the patch.
For me at the moment that is not playable.
But there is some update i have, the endless loading screen and the need to end it via tast manager had somehow impact my graphic drivers. i noticed that , when also rogue trader all of a sudden was very laggy. so i re-installed the gra-ca-drivers and now at least the very vanilla version of the game does work normally again. i thought i should share that.
My game was not heavily modded. It had a handfull of small ones. And where exactly do mods lead to behavior ? What exactly were you trying to say? Because as of now your answer is astonishingly useless.
Most of your ways on how you fixed it and myself looking for solutions gave a combination that finally worked .
My Problem obviously was ,that i had to close the game via Task Manager , which had an impact on my graphiccard drivers. That and the fact that the 1.5 Version of the game did not work with some of the old mods. Here are the steps that helped me, for those who still have trouble.
1. In your savefiles under computer -> user -> username - > save games -> jagged alliance 3 folder there are 2 files you need to delete, so you do not have to delete all of your save games (hoping that the mods you used will be updated and maybe those saves work again soon , who knows). The files are
account.dat
account.dat.bak
What this does is essentially putting your game into default mode , like when it was started for the very first time. It also deactivates every mod you have.
2. Before that i had repaired the installation , as this did not work i reinstalled and emptied the steam-cash. All that did not have the preferred outcome , since i still had my settings saved in the account.dat files.
For all of you who think they have to de-♥♥♥ each and every mod in the workshop : you don't have to do that. deleating the files as described in step 1 is enough.
3. Since i had massiv lags and it turned out later these also happened in other applications , i reinstalled the graphic drivers. This could be just me, but i happened after the game was not working anymore , so i put it inhere just for a complete oversight for those who might have similar problems , even so i assume this is one of the rather rarer happenings.
4. After that my vanilla game was working perfectly fine again.
Having accomplished that, i now started to reactivate my mods in smaller numbers. like i added 2-3 mods , saved , tried out. if it worked rince and repeat. If it did not , i had to delete the account.dat and .bak again, and did not add those mods anymore the seemed to be trouble.
As so far my personal findings are ,that mercs in general seem to be no problem, as long as they use vanilla equipment and are not tied to mods like unlimited weapons and the like. for me all the mercs from the modder "key" who adds mostly only mercs from JA2 that have not been implemented yet have worked flawlessly.
Some others did so too, but in general merc-mods seem to work.
Others that chance equipment , droprates and such do not work anymore.
These are only my observations but i wanted be as precise as possible, so it might help others, just as others helped me out.
So thank you for your input guys, it definetly helped me sorting out my problems.
