How many times did you restarted?
Hi guys i am just interested, first time I am playing this and after 30+- hours i had to restart haha. Basically get rekt because I didint expected betrayel and I had not enough resources to go on, so I decided to play again and prepare better. Short story of my first experience. Fun fact usually i hate replaying games, but this one hooked me.

I restarted mid-game when I realized I screwed up one of my IMP mercs, Dex of like 67 or something. I had just learned how powerful shotguns are and when I realized that my intended shotgunner grenadier would take another 2 weeks to get good I said screw it and restarted.

I'm glad I did, I got shottys a lot earlier with the right perks.

Started playing with First Blood difficulty until it became just too boring with too many easy kills and too much discretionary income. Restarted with Commando difficulty and had to seriously rethink tactics, strategy and financial management. Already restarted twice due to financial distress after still trying to spend like the Pentagon especially with respect to recruiting militia.

You can have someone with teaching trait train up his Dex. Fox, Buns, or Wolf.

For my first run, at the World Flip

On each subsequent one I did not restart, did 3 additional runs for achievements (2 forced restart due to Ironman ♥♥♥♥ up on Ernie in the beginning ^^)

Yeah, i restarted after doing Ernie, hired way too many mercs on the first run.

Unless you're trying to achieve some very specific goal, there's likely no reason to restart. Just role play a different ending.

You can recruit mercs that don't require a salary, and so take infinite time to finish the game. You can hire cheap mercs. You can re-take mines even if you have to kill one enemy at a time, exit sector and re-enter after healing.

With that low difficulty assistance you even get $1K per day or week I think, which allows you to continue with zero mine income.

If you hire too many mercs or too expensive. Terminate their contract and restructure your team.

Would you believe me if I told you that I’ve played the game for around 200h but still haven’t finished it? That should tell you the answer.

Too many to count.

I played through Ernie Island and took over the first diamond mine on the mainland when I decided that this wasn't the same Jagged Alliance I was used to as a longtime veteran of JA2. Not to say it's worse in any way; just different....more modern. Anyway, I wasn't quite grasping the subtleties of the games mechanics so I took a couple of hours to watch a few YouTube "Beginner Tips" videos and once I felt like I understood better the things I wasn't getting in the first couple of hours I decided to completely restart the game. And I feel much more confident but I still find myself dipping out of the game to look things up.

I've started twice. The first time I too jumped on "get all the mercs you can" thing and didn't pay attention to what I was doing. The money flowed pretty good, ammo, meds not as good. The first go was not easy and had to retry a number of encounters.

The second time I tried to stay with a single 6-man squad but the money came even easier and now I have 3 squads again.
This time around it was much easier, not sure if I learned a few things in the first go-round or if it simply turned out being easy.

So...I'm going for a 3rd try soon and stick to some basic plans.

I am into 3rd restart on Commando difficulty, and with four mercs (Buns, Barry, Livewire and the IMP guy) have taken Earnie Island, Mfumu's mine, Fleatown, the Haunted Mansion, Camp La Barriere, and Camp Savane,. My three paid mercs have 14 contract days and I still have $69K in cash. My next objective is the Diamond Red mine, and once that is taken I will add Wolf to the team to further minimize the downtime (and merc salaries) spent on satellite operations. The secret sauce for me was to arm all four mercs with the Gewehr 98's found on Earnie, modified with the improvised suppressor. Stealth kills and headshots are also very helpful since the Legion is already packing the Vengeance/Interrupt perks.

Flashbangs and tear gas have hella damage mitigation. Don't sleep on Barry paired with Larry (free merc) using shotguns. With the right perks you can flashbang half the map and tear gas a layer between you and them, while still getting off two shots and ending behind cover. It won't matter to your sharpshooters because a head kill is a head kill, but all damage that passes through gas or smoke becomes grazing. You just don't want to open with grenades or shotguns though, you lose the free move and are frozen. But as long as you are starting each new turn in cover you get a bigger free move. You can control half the map with Barry and Larry, stack up a huge kill box for your rifleman.
