The supposed ambush at the well (G6)
Nobody ever comes (except for villagers). No ambush happens. I've been waiting for several days in a row, just to make sure. No enemies in sight, ever.

I've got intel on G6, there are no special marked areas for an ambush like with that one Jungle mission where you have to position your squad at the ends of the road, and I haven't done this yet without realising - the respective shield over the outpost at F7 is still up.

So, what am I missing? Is this a bug? :petrifiedear:

No Bug. Don't wait in combat tactical view. Goto strategic map view and advance the time clock to night time.

Well, there was one odd difference, which I have seen reported elsewhere (Reddit, I think?) only once: I got the note for that mini-quest, while my squad was just entering G6 or already in it. I was in sat view, and the game showed me the battle screen instantly, including the unknown number of enemies, but there was nobody there - I even had my squad run across the map like idiots to possibly have the enemy find my mercs, to no avail. Regardless, the battle status didn't change, and I couldn't unpause in sat view. Had to walk to the map edge in tac view to get out of there.

I'm now certain this is indeed a bug, but a rare one that only happens under very specific circumstances. I supposedly encountered the water carriers at the same time I got the quest, but no enemies appeared, and after getting out of the sector, the game registered the encounter to be beaten, without the respective outpost shield getting cleared. This might explain why there's villagers hanging around the well now - with no shots ever fired in that sector.

No matter, I've cleared the other shields and am now occupying the outpost. So, no harm done.

At launch the game would usually wait until all enemies were dead to mark some quests as complete, but an early patch changed the behavior so that completions happened as soon as you were back in real time mode. I think this was meant as a fix for enemies that don't spawn, specifically.

I think, if there is the 'Examine Clue' icon, the quest is still active.

If there is no 'Examine Clue' icon, maybe your merc have low wisdom and cannot discover the clue, or the quest is now finished.

I didn't bother with this event. Honestly that camp battle isn't very hard regardless. I think each shield takes off 3 defenders from the camp, but like I said, it's one of the easier camp battles.

You know the guys are at the well because you intercept a radio call telling you. As far as I know this only happens when you have a squad at the well, you're in satellite view and it's night time

I know that now, but they simply didn't spawn for me. Hence, I'm certain I came upon a rare bug. Not game-breaking, though. All good.
