Steroids special useless?
1) has to have empty had
2) has to close in for melee (steroid has few AP's to work with)
3) only usefull if there are two enemies next to eachother, and even then, questionable
4) using it pushes enemy away, meaning you have to close in again and the enemy is not anymore in CQC.

Any way to slavage him?
He is a great mechanic and has good marksmanship. His Dex and AGHI are terrible, and despite high STR using him as a grenade chugger isn't good, because his EXPL is low. Worst of all, low WIS means he learns sloooow.

I use him as cheap mule and mechanic.

His special is useless due to low AP.

Low dex and high marksmanship lets you lean into low aiming bonus weapons like shotguns, low agi means you need low Ap to fire weapons. (low agi sucks more than almost any other stat IMO since it's linked to movement and AP)

IMO, 'Roid is best with a shotgun and the best armour you can get him, then the out of cover grit perk, since reacting to flanks and being able to shoot after is unlikely, opt to shoot, inflict exposed and finish up with other mercs. Think of him as offensive support.

Also his huge inventory means he's a good mule but to be honest any weapon that has low aim bonus and doesn't require a tonne of movement (machine guns for example) is a good fit.

Steroid needs a buff or at least change his special like i dunno make it passive + weaponize crowbars or allow it to work even if you are wielding range weapons.

right now the best thing i can do with him is a rage build with grenade launchers & rpgs but that's after agi and explosive training and not care about his special ability.

a breach & clear, grenadier, melee build sounds good coz you can punch or use his special when his hands are holding grenades and throwables but again needs alot of agi training and your melee is just fists DX

I hired him in my first playthrough, and I only used his special ability twice although I was always looking for a chance to use it. It is quite obvious that the skill is not for practical use, but I like it as I believe low tier mercs should not have powerful special ability like legendary mercs.

Haha, somebody challenged game devs to use it while playing on the live stream. Game dev Lyubo was trying, but always not enough AP. Then he finally got one.

Thor was one of my favourite mercs in the old game. He started out a little weak when it comes to shooting but would become really strong with training.

Sadly, his unique in this game is borderline useless. His ability doesn't even produce enough meds to heal a single wound if you hire him for a week.

It's not a healing item, it's a preemptive buff for use in melee, grit damage is basically temp HP that when lost doesn't cause wounds, he's really a melee sneeker first and medic second in JA3. (nice leadership for a non-leader too)

You can't polish a turd. Steroid is one of the worst characters in the game and there's no workaround. It's much easier and cheaper to train someone else to have a good marksmanship.

Thor is one of the best charactes in JA3. His unique perk produces pills which are incredibly useful because they improve a merc energy level by one. In other words, you can cure the tired status with it, which means that you are now much more flexible when it comes to managing fatigue. And the best part about it is that it's an item, which means that Thor can give his benefits to another team, acting as a pseudo-7th member. And since he's also one of the few mercs with a good Leadership score, that makes him one of the best leaders for a second team.

Steroids was always one of the worst merks in all JA games.
He is just a walking gym&steroid meme.
Yes Biff, you too.
