How Chars get better?
I was wondering which model of leveling your chars will be used?

JA had the best one ever, use a stat and it gets better. This was nice as it had no cap to your mercs and you were able to increase aim, strength, ect just over time.

JA2 had most stupid level system with very limited option and lvl 10 was quickly gained. Then your merc had no chance to improve.

I hope that JA3 follow JA and maybe combine this with some sort of extra skills. My hopes are low as developers tend to do something completely useless instead of improving good systems.

I hope that there are good replys to my points. :)

I do like the stat based improvement system. Just use it and get better.
The only issue with that system is that it makes it hard to build up "off-stats". Like building up reaction or evasion or whatever if your merc isn't constantly being shot at (if you're using cover and tactics well, they shouldn't be).

So hopefully if they go that route they give you a training option in base to just pick a stat and work on it.

Maybe even have a "soft cap" on stats, where you can only train them so high at base, and need real world experience to raise it higher.

Fair point, i think a combination and/or your suggested training option would be great.

Idk how you played but I killed every baddie in Arulco and only hit level 8 with my IMP.... Never got a single member of my team to level 9 even.

Nothing wrong with that. I tend to play that way too. Slowly build and expand and max out everything.

Looking at the pictures on the store front, they have stat points and perk points to increase on level up but they might have a by use system as well or at least it will be more appropriate this way.

They implemented a very similar system:

But i think that it would be better to modify the required thresholds for the talents slightly to make bronze talents more common and gold talents more rare:
- Bronze: 65 instead of 70
- Silver: 80
- Gold: 95 instead of 90

Many thanks, this answer my questions. Looks like there is a mixture in place. Thn it will need a test how good or bad it is.

"Stats are not static throughout a merc’s lifetime. These can be improved in several ways, including getting trained by more proficient mercs on the team and using these stats efficiently in the field. Gains from field experience are limited and also loosely tied to the regular progression for levelling up – don’t expect your merc to become an expert marksman by repeatedly shooting at bottles in a safe situation!"
