You want to pay once to get a DRM-free version and the Steam version? I doubt that's an option anywhere.
You'd have to buy the game twice.

Since Steam is DRM already.... no

That's a bit false, many games sold on Steam are playable without Steam client so at this point as DRM free than are games on Gog.

Sometimes it can be very surprising and including some big indies games.

sometime I could find indies game that gave steam key and another downloadable too.
like itch or bloodstained.

The first answer is the correct answer. Buy on GOG if you want DRM free.

yeah they're playable without steam but how would you install them without steam? it's not like gog where you can install the game independently of steam, steam is drm either way

Available on GoG, same preorder discount of 20%: https://www.gog.com/game/jagged_alliance_3

// Hmm, the official website https://www.jaggedalliance.com/ offers only Steam as an order option?

Edit: And the GoG announcement: https://www.gog.com/en/news/preorder_jagged_alliance_3

That's quickly said, to install you need access gog web or gog client, there's no difference for me, both ar just about using shop account and get what's bought.

you can keep the installer on your drive on gog, you can't keep the installer on your drive on steam

not same thing

Yeah for pirating it's not the same thing, otherwise do you pretend you manage install backup of your games, and it's not even solving problem of updates.

How would you install them without having to first download them from GoG?

Same difference.
GoG games don't have DRM, beyond you needing to download them from GoG in the first place.
The majority of Steam games are the same. Once you've installed them through Steam, you can launch the game directly without the Steam app open, and they play just fine. I do think all the time with my laptop while travelling. Just keep a bunch of things installed, and I can play them without having to run Steam (or have a connection).

right, which makes both gog and steam drms

glad we got that sorted out

There is major difference: if your got a new PC after both Steam and GoG are already closed forever, you still will be able to install and play gog version as it does not require even connection to gog.
