Bug: Can't switch back to satellite view

- Started a new game on the highest difficulty where you only have one save game
- IMP Merc died, but I decided to continue anyway. For some reason the dead IMP merc’s portrait is shown twice among the squad portraits.
- Rest of the team left the sector. Then I noticed that my IMP merc suddenly had a half-full blue health bar in the squad screen.
- Switch back to the sector and my IMP merc is still dead on the ground. But now I can’t my back to the satellite view or the browsers or anything except the squad screen and the help page.
- Only mod I’m using is the Custom Settings mod and the only thing I did was increasing the Squad size to twelve.

I would rather not restart the whole game due to a bug. Maybe someone has an idea and can help me out?

travel to another sector should fix it

Verifying the game files and restarting didn't help.
Travelling to another sector isn't possible because the only merc in the sector is my dead guy.
