@op ..the 'hat' is added later on in the development...also @ ja3 start before the game begins ..its intended for a new generation of players.

The difference ?

As i see it Magic in JA3 is slightly older, slightly darker, wears a cap and shows a half smile instead of letting the corners of the mouth drop. What do you mean ?

Small changes to skin tone are explicable in part, though not completely, by lighting differences. This is very obvious when comparing from JA1 because all the portraits there have a harsh, bright and saturated look, so Magic looks more orange than brown. JA2 to JA3 keeps a similar look, but generally in the direction of the characters looking more like actual people, so it's not much to complain about.

(I like the comic book look of JA1 still.)

As a 100% Magic fan, I agree. When I saw his portrait and new look...they did him dirty. It would be nice if the devs changed his portrait and took the hat off. Meh, oh well...

The Magic portrait looks so familiar. It's like someone told the artist to do a younger looking Idris Elba wearing one of his favourite peak caps.

I guess the elephant in the room is that you weren't aware that Magic was always black, starting in JA1, just look at the hair and listen to the voicelines from the original game early 90s game.
