Yes, and setting up bipods should be an action that costs AP, no matter the weapon. Otherwise every ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the army would run around with bipodded assault rifles.
Guess that is kinda incorporated in going prone. (Bipods don't function when standing!)
speaking of machine guns, mg42 handles for 4ap, as fast as a handgun.
But in my last playthrough, I couldn’t fire LMGs from the first floor terrace of a house because of this.

LMG bipod overwatch is already OP! I didn't set this up, this was just the next combat engagement in my current vanilla playthru.
