[IDEA] More DIfficulty Settings
Combat, looting, and financial challenges are tied to the same difficulty setting. I suggest splitting those, so players can choose tougher fights without sacrificing the amount of loot, for example.

Combat Difficulty
  • Easy. The current "First Blood" setting for combat.
  • Normal. "Commando"'s combat + "To The Bitter End" setting.
  • Hard. "Mission Impossible"'s combat + "To The Bitter End" setting. More enemies.

Tactical Difficulty
  • Easy. More loot. Additional squad inventory slots to store all the loot. Extra money from hacking.
  • Normal. The standard amount of loot. More locked doors/crates/etc.
  • Hard. A higher chance for doors/crates to be trapped. More traps in general. Greater environmental damage outside of combat. Implies "Dead Is Dead".

Strategic Difficulty
  • Easy. More starting money. Higher income from mines. Mines never exhaust (Evermine mod). Faster operations (healing, militia, etc.) in Sat View. Implies "Forgiving Mode".
  • Normal. The standard amount of starting money and income rate.
  • Hard. Lower income from mines and slower operations in Sat View.

The above settings would add more variety in play styles. For instance, I would choose Hard Combat + Easy Tactical + Normal Strategy for my "Rambo" playthrough. Those, who don't like Sat View in general, could choose Hard Combat + Hard Tactical + Easy Strategy, where it is impossible to save during combat, and any merc fatalities are final, but, on the other hand, you can easily heal wounds of those who survived and hire more merc to replace those who died. The opposite is also possible: Hard Strategy + Easy Combat for those who prefer solving global problems over local conflicts.

P.S. And add Bobby Ray, please.

An update after 50h of gameplay: the problem is even more actual now. In my first playthrough, I started on Commando. After a dozen hours of struggling with ammo availability, I started all over again on First Blood. It solved the ammo problem, as it removed any combat challenge.

Then, I set the difficulty to Mission Impossible (you can change the difficulty via game options without starting a new game) to spice up the combat. And guess what? I ran out of ammo again! It is ridiculous that there is almost no ammo loot on Mission Impossible. I don't want to lower the difficulty of the combat, but it is the only way to get more loot.

P.S. I know that ammo is not a problem when there are 4+ snipers in the team. But that is not the way I want to play the game.

You could go with the highest difficulty setting and 3x all the drop chances since mission impossible difficulty has less than 7% ammo drop chance vs easiest difficulty.
So this way you get the hard combat with easiest difficulty level drop chances.

Keep in mind hardest difficulty gives AI 60% more free AP every turn among other things
