1st Blind playthrough hearing you need all the freebies merc in this game asap
i haul my ass saving him
i only know later by reading guide to recruit him but boy my attemp to recruit him is flawed from the start
i pull luigi out of prison and go to the church asap because i found intel pastor hiding him there
smartass think great now i can resolve both in one go, trigger the church fight
went into mansion and hooo boy the fight was absolute horror trying to keep smiley alive
he loves to go down bunkering in explosive car nearby, luigi boss and phantom make the fight horrible too
moneywise i have around 200k not saving biff yet, and its all half gone splurged to rent 5 days merc to make my life easier

10/10 would not do the fight this way again, it was good experience though

There's an easier way to get Smiley. Just do the Luigi quest first, side with Luigi, then go talk to Smiley. With Luigi there, the fight is much much easier as Joseph, Luigi and the other prisoners can usually handle most of the enemies on their own.

It is absolutely not worth trying to do the Smiley version of the Blaubert fight, especially if Luigi is also there. Easily one of the harder fights in the game. Honestly the entire Good Place quest is one of the hardest in the game as well. The prison guards are WAY more dangerous than legion goons and the prisoners barely even function as good meatshields since Jackhammer can pretty much solo all of them.

AFAIK, the only easy way to get Smiley is to:Side with BooBoo. Luigi will start shootout with BooBoo. Let Luigi and BooBoo men kill one another. Kill BooBoo (friendly fire), make sure Mollie survives, Kill Luigi and the guy with the thing, ....then eventually most of BooBoo men will stop shooting (game dev gift/bug?), kill anyone still shooting, and then you can complete the quest with no further shooting. Recruit Smiley, BUT you will fail the right hand man quest.

I'm so confused. So now I'm going to Rimville / Boss Blaubert.. I released Luigi from prison. Smiley is being hidden in jail by the priest. I have not talked to the priest yet about him.. What do I do now to release Smiley? Do I release Smiley from Prison or do I meet with Blaubert and Luigi?

Also, how do you recruit the Major? I mean the game is over once to free the president where the Major is

Before you see BooBoo, train militia at H8, and last chance to sell diamonds to Father Tooker. Don't free Smiley, not yet.

Do the thing with BooBoo and Luigi.

Then visit Father Tooker to free Smiley.
Fight off Booboo's men at the church, hopefully you did train some militia to help your fight.
Follow Smiley to see Molly.
Molly goes back to Pentagruel, Smiley works for you.

There are 3 boss fights to end the game. First take down the Major, then recruit him. Take down the other 2 boss after.

It was obvious it would be a massive firefight, so placed a few LMGs … that was before the patches, when the LMGs were insane

actually I didn’t check, but when I read your post, you wrote it like if you didn’t have to fight Boo-boo and if she went back without the fight.

Yes, i sided with Booboo, then i killed him when he was busy fighting Luigi. The Double Cross strategy, ....it was truly a Jagged Alliance.

Actually in my last playthrough, I just retreated my mercs until both were dead and finished Luigi’s goons.

But then I didn’t check if she went back to the brothel and didn’t read her dialogue

Not me, game devs/story writer came up with the story ideas first.

Then other players discovered, tested and posted these solutions before me; but everyone is still discovering more stuff and different solutions.

I sent two teams in to "recruit" him. Smiley the idiot ran right into death as everyone with a melee weapon kills him instantly. Saving him isn't even worth the effort, he's just dead based on his position standing between two gangs. The battle was fun though, but Smiley won't do anything to help you help him survive it.
