The destructibility in this game is pretty damn amazing.
I didn't know that buildings and such would be blown up and found out by pure accident.

Put a giant hole in a wall with explosives trying to blow up a group of guys, and that opened up a clear line of sight to all the enemies in the compound on the other side of that wall, for my snipers, and I was like, OH S**T! FOR REAL!? WE CAN BLOW UP BUILDINGS!?

Had Red use the RPG to knock out the rest of the wall and now they were sitting ducks.

Now anytime enemies are hiding behind cover, i have red throw a grenade or RPG and boom, no more cover, and hello sniper head shot for the enemies.

Man, this opens up so many possibilities.

I once threw a grenade to knock down a wall, and it put a hole in the floor, and there was two guys right below it on the ground floor. Wondered if I can move Mouse over to it and see is she can stealth shoot them, and yup, I could. Blasted them both since I was at damn near point blank range above them, and that meant, I didnt have to spend AP to aim.

Yo, take advantage of the fact that destructive environments can create opportunities for you.

Yeah it's cool had my 1 Merc drop a grenade on the wall with enemies close, they got 10% remaining on their health, then my MG Merc set up a nest into the holed wall and overwatched, and when the enemy had their turn my MG just clean the whole area.

Welcome to the good tactical RPGs.

Once you're done with this game, try its predecessor(Jagged Alliance 2) and Silent Storm. Both feature destructable environments aswell.

Silent Storm was such a great game, at least until the big mech armors started showing up, then I lost interested, never finished the game.

I mean I would bloody well hope so!
This was a standard breach tactic and used to flush out enemy in cover from JA2 20+ years ago afterall.

It's sad what modernized tactics games have done to the genre, to the point where this is considered revolutionary and mindblowing :/

I wondered what the 3 second pause was when a pipe bomb went off in a flimsy shack. Then my frame rate dropped to 15 for a second or two and all the destructible bits flew everywhere.
Im sure its neat when it doesnt look like ass.

the destructible environments in this are TEN TIMES more detailed in grain and scope than they were in JA2.

It looks good but it's too inconsistent. For example one time in the prison level I used grenades to blow holes all the way to Jackhammer so I could shoot him from far off. Later I played the same level, and when I tried to do it again the walls wouldn't blow up.

This is the exact location where I even learned about the destruction. That building dude is in is the compound I was talking about. Those fools just would not leave the damn complex so i had to start chucking grenades through door ways and thats when I found out once a big @$$ hole in the wall showed up.

Until that point I never really used grenades or explosions because everyone was outside, and I would just stealth snipe headshots all day, so never really had a reason to use grenades up until that point.

I also found out the hardway the weapon jackhammer is using is not to be taken lightly. He deleted one of my mercs and damn near killed the other two in a single blast.

But it can work against you too. Had one of my guys throw a grenade and due to his less that stellar explosive skills it landed under a balcony with my snipers on. Grenade went off blew the floor out of the above balcony and the snipers fell straight down, still in the same crouch pose they were in (like, hey weren't we higher up just now). Luckily they didn't seem to suffer much damage.

I like to introduce you to best boi, Barry Unger. He can stack bodies & do some serious demolition with his shaped charges.

That is a difficulty thing. If you go with top difficulty, all mercs in the first section are available from the get go. Don't laugh, but it is the reason I went the hardest difficulty to start. :P

I blew up the first floor and the enemies on the second floor fell down and took fall damage. Pretty nice actually. Some maps have machine gun nests that are blocked by building. Nuking those buildingd increase the coverage of the nests.

There was a sequel without power armor:
