G36 not as good as the Aug?
Finally got the G36 early enough that I can actually play with it a bit, but I don't get how it's better than the Steyr Aug?

- In its short configuration, the Aug shoots for 3/4 AP which the G36 can't do, and in its long configuration with the underslung grenade launcher, they seem the same other than the G36 having 1 more point of damage?
- And the G36 can't mount a bipod while the Aug can.

Am I missing something?

Both are good, G36 has 10% more damage and slightly better aim bonus, at the expanse of no bipod.

G36 always seems to perform better for me, particularly using burst. That little extra accuracy and damage puts it over the top. AUG is like a tactical sharpshooter weapon - good for replacing all those Dragunovs to get 2 aimed stealth shots off instead of 1.

Haven't found a use yet for the Commando, AR15, or M16. None of them seem to hit hard enough. AKSU (for run'n'gun) and AK74 outperform them easily.

AR-15 is quite deadly and extremely precise with the right mods, i sometimes use it off hand on my shotgun builds if i need range

Commando is a sub-par AKSU but still better than mp5

M16 useless in my experience

The Commando I've found useful for flexibility, for Run & Gun with an underslung grenade launcher, but then I like to run with very small squads. In a squad where I have range and explosives covered where my run-and-gunner will operate, yeah, I find AKSU to be better too.

I'll give it a go! Maybe there's a hidden bonus of some sort. I'll keep my snub Aug in the backpack, though, in case I want to go back to it.

Hm, G36 can do UV Dot + Vertical Grip, so better snap shooting than the Aug.
Hazard Aug 6, 2023 @ 1:15pm
The AR-15 is a mobile headshot crit machine for mercs with the Deadly Aim perk: UV dot, vertical grip, 10x sniper scope, extended barrel, recoil booster and heavy stock make for a great combo, better than the AUG for that particular role. The AUG lacks both the recoil booster and UV dot, meaning it deals less damage and is either slower when aimed or has a slightly shorter range and faster unaimed shots with the short barrel. It also lacks the inherently higher crit chance of the AR-15.

I haven't found a G36 yet, so I don't know what mods it has available, but if it's missing any of the critical ones the AR-15 has, it's probably not quite as good as a mobile rifle, either.

G36 can't have:
- recoil booster
- short barrel
- ergonomic expanded mag
- fine-tuned mag
- bunch of scopes (starts with prism; can mount x5, thermal, or reflex)
- bipod

Haven't found an AR-15 yet this run, so can't directly compare in-game.

Interestingly, the description and the graphic seems to suggest that the x5 scope is mounted on top of the prism scope so you might benefit from both (or either per shot, I guess), but the help text doesn't say that you do.

Why not mount the prism scope if you're running a crit build, by the way?

yeah exactly, i love it on second slot on my shotgun AGI buil

But AUG with long barrel/bipod is best for long range attacks and overwatching from a distance

Sniper scope on AR15 has insane aim bonus (+5 iirc) ; prism scope is only effective at +3 aim and you don't want to waste AP aiming with AR15 (and the bonus is not that good imo)

They have slightly different modifications available which will influence your choices.

AUG wins in my books because the gun is accurate, so UV dot loss is not significant, and because it can fit both bipod and grenade launcher. But the differences are not large.

If G36 had the actual 100-round drum mags, it could be more interesting to use. The fake mags only contain 45 rounds.

u know at some point early on ammo is an issue, so my main reason using one or another if they have similiar stats is mixing them for ammo supply. i kinda ♥♥♥♥♥ up early game and couldnt get armor piercing rounds which posed a problem :/
