Turned out to be quite the character...and fits surprisingly well within the game, even more so if one goes after every bit of 'evidence' against santiago...

I guess you recruited him early right? I had hired him too but it was always at the end of the game where i can't really use him. Does he got something interesting to say?

indeed i recruited him early in fact i tried to rush everything as safely as i could since i finished the game thrice by now and know what to expect..., yes if you play long enough hes growing on you, i actually like hes lines , and im surprised they are really decent, i expected some lame ass generic 'villain' type of thing...

I also hired him early. But it takes quite a lot of sectors and influence to recruit him. Securing many fort outposts, Having Pierre on the team, killing Graaf, killing Kronenberg and saving Biff were the key factors for me to recruit him.

I enjoyed killing Facheux with him, the extra dialogue between him and Fidel and Corazon's dialogue with him in the end lol

I've actually finished my third walkthough yesterday with solo IMP merc for Lone Wolf achievment (on Mission Impossible difficulty) and i also went for Major first and cleared non-weakened eagle's nest with solo merc, but Major not only refused to join me but not even given me evidence against Corazon, because i had not gained his respect.

This is kinda waste, because it's just too much hastle to clear all those outposts and towns with solo merc just to be able to recruit him. In fact, if you solo with IMP, you have no reason to clean any outposts and claim any mines because you don't need money, so i simply completed the game without claiming any territory at all (besides Ernie of course).

But it's simply lame that he was unimpressed how i wiped his 28 comrades at once with my solo commando... Not even sneaking was involved, i was fighting solo with like 15 guys at once, and i had to, because if i don't rush them and take it slow - they would had killed the president.

But still, after all this, and single handedly clearing his camp, Major Scallion does not get any respect for me. That's a damn shame...

I think you missed the whole point and development of the character then.

Spike is never impressed by you being Solid Snake. He can be impressed by properly doing what he set out to do in the first place. That means actually fixing Grand Chien and not beelining to his tent.

That is the trouble, because if i do that, i will not have anything left to do in the game for Scallion to participate. Why i need another useless merc at the point when i already done everything? The whole point of recruiting him early is to see his reactions on game events, quests, e.t.c, but if i have to complete most of them for him to "respect me" and be able to be recruited, what is the point then?
