I think diamond shipments should have a bigger payout.
Honestly as they are they offer almost no value incentive outside of say the first 5-8 hours. I think they should pay out around 30-60k. This would allow you start with a higher tier merc set especially if you can grab one of these early on, so more variety to game starts and for a more interesting game play to sustain yourself when you're cut off from mine income, and should you not use auto resolve more opportunities for combat. But as it is mine shipments loose all purpose once you get say 2 mines with like 50-60% loyalty. thats 12k+ per day.

with diamond mines yes but i am saying for scenarios where you don't have diamond mines. in fact even if it was 30k-60k per shipment. Diamond mines would still be better but its just for an alternative way to play.

if you dont have a mine you are doing something wrong and should be punished for it, go back to a team of cheap mercs until you get your stuff in order. that shouldnt change

I think the payout is just about perfect. One shipment will by itself cover 1-2 weeks of all but the highest ranked mercs, and we seem to get shipments every few days. Keeping a squad stationed at the bridge can intercept most of them.

The only scenario in which we wouldn't have any mines is if we are doing it as a self-imposed challenge, or if we have just triggered the army invasion. Neither of those is a reason to completely alter the current rewards. But if we want something different, I'm sure there's a mod for it.

Not always. If you are doing a solo run something like that might be nice. Maybe a speed run would benefit from it too. Money is indeed easy enough and in a standard game it's already fine but I can see a certain logic to it in some scenarios.
The thing is that unless you are flush enough in cash to run a couple of teams then chasing those things down usually costs you more in wages and falling behind elsewhere than the current reward justifies. Stopping them from taking a town of yours sometimes justifies it I guess but militia should handle that. Getting a few extra dollars from a militia taking them out is nice.
If a little cash loot is all they are intended to give us then so be it but if they want to make them actually viable, if not desirable then I think maybe making an elite team occasionally that has far better loot might be nice. One that doesn't pass through your towns and wipe out your militia but that you can chase down and actually turn a profit. Maybe mini bosses with new rare weapons or armour?
Right now those courier teams are just a bother that you need to intercept (probably with mercs) so they don't take all your territories but nothing more. I wouldn't mind seeing the incentive raised a lot. I don't think cash alone would do it but it's a start.

In my game most diamond shipments go through a place where I can train militia, they just drop of 12k every few week or so... Even autoresolve without mercs there is easy money
XJFTW Aug 4, 2023 @ 10:16am
I finish this game in both first blood and impossible with at least a mil left and have 4 elites hired out of the 16 hired mercs...maybe its because the case of diamond looks like it has a lot of diamond makes you think it should be more lol
TROCH22 Aug 4, 2023 @ 10:33am
forget the payout. The amount of enemies should be increased by x2 or x3

a briefcase full of diamonds... yeah definitely more than 12k.
this minigame provides flavor, but its quite boring to bother with, no consequences, minimal gains.
FatalException Aug 4, 2023 @ 10:49am
For the loot piñatas these groups are, 12k is plenty.

It might be cool if there were different types of shipments. Such as a courier with a handful of tiny diamonds (or other valuables) with 1 or 2 escorts, or a large shipment worth more but heavily guarded by more & better equipped troops.

Already swimming in money, no thanks
Edmon Aug 4, 2023 @ 11:41am
The shipments are actually the money from the mines. If you take all the mines, they stop. bigger shipments might drain the mines faster... which is a problem since you can't intercept them all early.

I don't know a lot about diamonds, but there are six or seven attributes that are used to grade them. So, it's not so easy to figure out their prices, but I would suggest that an average 1k diamond would cost $5,000 USD now in 2023. Guesstimating inflation, I'd say that you;d pay $3,000 for that diamond in 2000.

So a diamond shipment that costs 12K would be a whopping four diamonds.

As the game itself points out, you're not getting anything like retail for these things. You're getting a cut of the company's profit.
