Gold Fever sniper rifle ammo

I wonder why Gold Fever is a 1-shot only rifle. It clearly has a magazine and is using 7.62mm ammo. Shouldn't it at least be semi-automatic?

The magazine is solid gold, it's only there to add more value to the weapon. :)

Don't sleep on this gun. You can get it super early and it is fantastic. 1 round magazine is strange but it only costs 1 AP to reload and has like 5 aiming levels and a bipod. With AP ammo it has the best armor penetration in the game.

I haven't actually tried using AP ammo with that gun in particularly, but in most cases it would be a little waste because AP ammo bumps penetration by two levels, not just one? It'd serve to destroy boss armor and overpenetrate (for no real penalty ofc) anything else.
