Pistol + Knife
Knives are one-handed. Pistols are one-handed. Both are suited for close-quarters.
I don't want to invoke the spirit of Metal Gear Solid here, but is it somehow possible to wield a knife and pistol simultaneously without needing to swap weapons?

Sadly no. Could be very useful for mobile shot though, rushing face ork style.

Ah, a shame. It seems like such an obvious combination for a merc with CQC and HTH traits, and leaving the other weapon slot for a rifle so he's not completely naked at long range.

Modders to the rescue, I guess.
