Explosives dropped = not exploding in explosions. Love my Kevlarbackpacs
Is it a bug or a feature that explosives like C2, TNT, landmines and handgrenades laid down in a backpack do not explode by f.e. set up landmines or rocket explosions....?`

I can imagine developers wanted to give us a tiny chance of tiny loot but come on, I'd like to minefield the mapborder for a HUUUUUUUUGE NAPALMish festival explosion hahahahahah ^^ Make it possible to go kabooom pls. If one of my MERC Crazies wears a backpack full of explosives and gets hit by an explosion he or she should MELTDOWN and SUFFER! ^^

Everything else is a lack of realism. And yes I know even Ammo would explode. Which would mean LESS AMMO, but hey, explosives are explosives. Make them so. Even dropped in Bags. Lets say they have hitpoints and if they suffer too much explosive damage: Voila: Follow Up Kaboom...

Funny lad. I guess thats why they clear whole districts in european cities when they're finding 2nd WW Bombs cause it still has the detonator as the only possible reason to go off, lol. Seriously. If one roll of TNT explodes, most likely the 2nd one will do so too.

I mean, yes, that's it, because high explosives are not used out on streets unless there's a war.

TNT might look like dynamite but it ain't. Walking through a fire could probably cause a cook-off in any unsealed magazines, but military grade explosives would likely just melt and degrade "safely" (still toxic) instead of blowing up.

You'd probably need to be very unlucky and be directly on the way of an exploding HEAT jet from the RPG-7 in order to trigger an uncontrolled chain reaction. Most other explosives used by enemies are just fragmentation bombs and such. Not sure about the land mines. I guess they are blast mines, and I have no idea how easily those could trigger a chain reaction. Still, in any case, the person's life would be forfeit by the original blast, not by a chain reaction or cook-off of anything on their person.

There's probably an opportunity to mod such feature to the game, but there's so many reasons against including it, and not much for, other than enjoying explosions.

I kinda get your realism point - I'm no explosives expert. it would be the ONE thing being realistic in this game though, which is kinda contradictionary to the 80es Action Movie Game feel though. I mean. No explosions triggered by other explosions? Arnie would disapprove. ^^

I'm not an expert either... I admit it would be interesting to see how an expert would design these interactions to work in the game, but I'm not sure if it would be very fun. Kinda torn whether exploding cars are good or bad thing here too.

An expert on explosives probably isn't all that good at making things fun to play.

And as to the question how professional game designers would decide on the issue, let's just say I don't know many game's that make explosives in the players inventory prone to respond to explosions by exploding themselves...

A single Grenade deleting half your squad because your backpack C4 cooked of? Not fun.
thats why i refered to the dropped explosives. Same as a car to me. ^^
