IMP had same challenge and turns out you DON'T need to get the merc with the challenge get wounded to accomplish if no one else got wounded. That counts for the challenge.
For the killing all enemies via shots to the groin it isn't too bad for a small squad battle. But it's crazy if you are trying to clear an entire map.
And I would always try to do these tasks. Even if you don't get an attribute point and don't need the cash, you can always use the XP (usually around 300) !
Yes Overwatch, Pin Down, Distracting shot worked for me. I couldn't try melee or charge.
I’ve used a lot of distracting shots for special abilities. I believe Run and Mobile shot too (so weaken an enemy first then use a pistol for the coup de grace). I agree that I think overwatch counts, as well as mercs unique abilities like Kalyna’s ignore armour trait.
Perks are so valuable that I am an XP hunter.
those are random objectives that appear during combat. Specific merc will gain around 300 experience and sometimes even a +1 to a stat if you successfully complete the objective. There is also a chance that mission won't give you exp but $2,000.
This is one of ways you can get experience. Because as you gain levels it is harder and harder to gain levels. Combat kills don't give a lot of experience. And quests don't give a lot of experience as well. Maybe it will give you 400 experience but it will be split between all your mercs in sector. So if you have 5 mercs each of them will only gain 80 experience.
Objective experience is not split between all your mercs. Your merc will gain entire 300 experience.
Now for special attacks... You achieve those with Knife throw kill, Knife brutalize kill, if your merc has special attack like Kaylan for example. You click that icon and she will ignore the armor. If she kills an enemy it will count as special attack.
