Yes, you can create one custom character in I.M.P.

Yes. Look for the I.M.P. Site when you're choosing mercs on the laptop. It allows you to make your own merc by answering a questionnaire.


IMP is your personal Merc, and the great thing is, he works pro bono! The only merc you need not pay for.

Now, I don't know how in depth it is, but modding will be huge in this game, and so expect both the devs and modders to eventually give us more options here.

If someone said you can't, they don't know how to play. It's been shown multiple times, And I saw the IMP website on CohCarnage's stream (Even though he didn't notice it).

I saw in one of the reviews a Merc loot a gun from a dead enemy so you can on some of them at least.

The guy in the video really complains he can´t make his own merc.....even when you can see the IMP button at the top of the merc hiring screen.

At the beginnign of the video there is an exclamation mark on the button, later it is gone, doesn´t that mean he must have cklicked on it in the meantime? Or would it go away after a while anyways?

But to give an exact answer, yes you can create your own merc, it costs 7k for the test if i remember correctly but zero salary. (and i think all other reviewers found that button) ;)

If it is like JA2 you didn't always get a gun for each. Early in the game you would maybe find a used knife, a crappy pistol with 2 rounds and a clip for some other type of gun haha. I think there must be a random roll that scales with enemy quality.

I really want to be careful regarding spoilers, but i think it is ok to say that things like that (don´t know if there are any for free but lets say there is clearly more than A.I.M.) could already be seen in the gameplay streams from the preview version a few months ago where streamers could play the first 3 hours of the game.

Thats like ,not the idea of the game, its about having premade merchs each one unique and funny.One of the most memorable things about the JA games I remember is having fun and surprises with the different mercs I got...
Making your own you'll just miss on stuff and bland the game play.

Not wrong, but one of the other memorable things about JA2 was that you weren't forced to be some unseen commander, but had the option to make your own merc and be part of everything. I'm pretty very sure OP is talking about that, not about creating every merc yourself.

In the JA2 games you were able to visit IMP and create your own merc. XEP624 was the password to enter IMP and take the quiz. In JA2: Wildfire the password was CIA003. In JA2: Unfinished Business the password was GP97SL.

The only differences I see in JA3 is the password is already entered for you but it is hidden and you can bypass the quiz.

To be fair how to create your own merc isn't really well explained, or really explained at all. Really surprised there isn't a pop up tutorial box of some sort on how to do it.

Watched a few streamers so far and only one actually figured it out. And that particular streamer is known for always going really in depth (and slow) and going over everything when he plays a new game.

But all the rest that I watched all went with just 4 recruited mercs and missed it completely.
