50 cal maybe.
If JA3 is anything like the previous JA's the 50 cal will be heavy, rare to find and very expensive to buy. Even then the ammo for it couldn't penetrate walls, barrels, or crates.

In game, yes, but it can also be a handgun or a smoothbore musket. .50 is not just one thing.

You are correct. A 50 cal sniper rifle should go through barrels or some crates and make mincemeat out of anyone hiding behind them. Previous JA games had a 50 cal pistol but as with any handgun the long range accuracy is nothing to brag about. There were no 50 cal muskets in any JA game.

Impossible to say since we don't even have a list of all the guns in the game yet.

I doubt a M2A1 .50 (12.7 mm) will be in the game. The gun alone weighs in around 85 pounds plus the 45 pounds for the tripod. A 100 round belt will weigh in excess of 27 pounds. An M85 .50 BMG weighs about 20 pounds less.

My youngest brother used a M85 .50 BMG mounted to a Humvee in Iraq and Afghanistan. He told me that a 50 cal sniper rifle is not something you really want to be running around with in a roving firefight. He had some photos showing what a fifty single fired would do to a body.

US Marine Corps sniper Carlos Hathcock used an Unertl telescopic sight and a mounting bracket of his own design during the Vietnam War. Hathcock could quickly convert the M2 into a sniper rifle, using the traversing-and-elevating (T&E) mechanism attached to the tripod. When firing semi-automatically, Hathcock hit man-size targets beyond 1,800 metres (2,000 yd)—twice the range of the standard-caliber sniper rifle of the time (a .30-06 Winchester Model 70). Hathcock set the record for the longest confirmed kill at 2,250 metres (2,460 yd), a record which stood until 2002, when it was broken in Afghanistan by Canadian Army sniper Arron Perry using a .50-caliber, McMillan Brothers TAC-50 rifles (designated as the C15 long-range sniper weapon by the Canadian Forces) at a range of 2,310 metres (2,526 yd.

M2 is a fixed weapon in some sectors.

You dont "own" it and can not haul it around, it is fixed.

At a cyclical rate of 450–575 rpm will the player be allowed to utilize them?
You can use them, just a place a merc into them. I think the RoF is slower than normal but since the game is turn based it does not matter, enemy can not run away once you shoot :lunar2019coolpig:

The next question is will the player have to worry about the enemy using them to annihilate your unit. I suppose there will be very limited amount of ammo left if your lucky enough to take it over.

I guess what I'm thinking is if a 5.45, 5.56, or 7.62 mg can spit out 5 to 8 rounds in the game then the rounds the 50 mg will unleash will be higher at maybe 10 to 12.

If you want to know, you can watch the beta preview vid. I'm not going to spoil it for others. Rat ta ta ta, rat ta ta ta ta....

Where is the beta preview video located? I've watched all that I can find on youtube but none showed the 50 mg in action.
the best gun is the one I have ammo for.

Oh yeah, but that goes without saying that it'll be rare and expensive. But as long as AP costs aren't too high, could be best weapon. But perhaps not.
