Put a negative review of the game, so other users can see it also, that's what i did.
I tried the game on 3 different computers, all came up with the same bug, so it is a game related bug.
Yeah I think I did the same with the review. That's all we can do atm I guess until mods see this.
True, but i think the developer should have done something by now regarding this, i mean i posted this 3 days ago and not even a replay left alone a fix for this issue from him. Find that a bit sad from the developers side.
Had a similar experience about a month with another game, i reported the bug around 7PM and the developer pushed a fix to Steam 2 hours letter fixing the issue.
Though a small developer, but still shows just how engaged small devs are in comparison to bigger.
Yes.
Anyways, this issue isn't new in Theotown space and could easily be fixable on the developers side if they serious wanted to get rid of this whole tirade. But they don't.
The official solution is to download & install a 64-bit Java release from over at https://java.com - I personally recommend against that as java.com doesn't offer anything beyond Java 8 - which was initially released about a decade ago.
I thus recommend to download & install Java 17. There are a couple of reputable vendors out there, the one I'd recommend is https://adoptium.net/ but alternatives are plentiful:
- Azul Zulu from https://www.azul.com/
- Bellsoft liberica from https://bell-sw.com/pages/downloads/#downloads (I have no hands-on experience with that one though)
- GraalVM from https://www.graalvm.org/downloads/ (that one is for more experienced users though)
- The Jetbrains runtime from https://github.com/JetBrains/JetBrainsRuntime/releases/ (Installation is fiddly though)
- IBM Semeru from https://developer.ibm.com/languages/java/semeru-runtimes/downloads/ (That one could have quite the bugs with Theotown, but could be faster)
- Amazon Corretto from https://aws.amazon.com/corretto/ (No hands-on experience there either)
- and many, many more
Using Java 17 (or later if you feel adventurous) instead of Java 8 also means better performance and overall better experience (at least for Theotown, which supports Java 17 and beyond natively). Additionally Theotown's only modloader requires Java 11 or higher to run - so a typical Java 8 install will not work.
