I am sorry to hear that. Please try out the following:
1. Download and install Java from here: https://www.java.com/en/download/
2. Restart your PC
3. Try again to start the game
If not available the game will use a bundled Version of OpenJDK for running Java. However, that causes issues on some devices, therefore installing regular Java should solve the issue 😊
Few things I did; reinstalled newest version of Java.
Whitelisted on antivirus- it was contained so I thought it could have been this.
Restarted PC.
I do notice in my task manager that an OpenJDK process opens when launching.
After ~5 minutes a crash report seems to try to open.
I also tried to find the crash log, but there was no folder at the specified location of /users/username/theotown or similar paths.
Sorry to cause the trouble, bugs are no fun. I hope it's not too tricky to fix so we can enjoy this nice game though, good luck!
Hi All, I tried it, but this does not help. as the 4th step I reinstalled the game as well. My PC has i5-2430M with integrated GPU, Windows 10.
Have you found a solution for this error (#65542)?
1. deinstall Java
2. download the java version 8u25 (jre-8u25-windows-x64.exe) here https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/javase/javase8-archive-downloads.html
3. install the java version 8u25
4. start the game.
