Vancia temple door bugged? [spoilers]

I have killed all the dragons in the firepit basement. Don't recall finding a scroll. If I had one, I destroyed it - went back, still no scroll. The internet says

left eye, right eye, forehead 4 times, then lips

I tried different number of forehead counts too - nothing works.

That does not work for me. So, I can't continue - after sinking so many hours into the game.

Please go back to the lowest level of the Fire Pits. At some point, you have to fight a couple of Dragons and then a group of Iron Golems and Wizards. Those Wizards have the scroll, which is required to open the temple door.

The scroll is a quest item and cannot be destroyed. Thank you!

Ah! Thank you - yes, I saw the golems, but was too tired to fight them - and the other web sources only mentioned dragons . I thought I could still open the door without the scroll, just knowing the sequence. So I assume I need it before the door will function ...OK :-)
