Rebirth points are actually very slow to accrue, slower than in other idle games where you rebirth, and the cost increase of the rebirth shop also increase more than most idle games.
The problem this game has (among many other problems) is the lack of content, an endless grind is not content, finishing all items to 100 and reaching 4500 and you are basically out of content until more is added.
On 1x speed, the cannon 1-hit kills all mobs, and on 2x speed, only 3-4 mobs get past between firings, and it's power increases faster than mob HP. So, if you just dump all your points into it as you go, it stays at 1-hit kill-all condition. It's not helpful against bosses, but the bosses generally melt quicker than the mobs, anyway. Maybe we're evaluating it by different measures, but from what I've seen, it's only a terrible investment because it is game-breakingly over powered and kills the fun.
Also, do you buy the gem-points (real money)? If so, this would likely impose an understandable and dramatic difference between your experience and mine. I've played only for free without buying any gems.
if you arent playing on miniboss mode and 2x speed, you are losing out on so much. there is never a good reason to have those settings off.
clear speed is king in this game, and laser is hands down the best, with archers being just behind.
2000 rebirth points really isnt much. it takes around 20,000 to get a measly 100% bonus to things like damage, gold, ect. 100% sounds like a lot, but it really isnt. the first 3 upgrades increase by the square of the number upgrade it is (ie: 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36 ect). the rest go up by the cube of the number upgrade it is (ie: 1, 8, 27, 64, 125, 216, ect), these kinds of gains are pretty slow, even compared to other idle games. the game just doesnt have the content that others like it do.
the game has been the same for years now, from back when it was on Kongregate. even back then, cannon and missiles were known for being really bad.
I assume everybody uses the miniboss and speed modes. As you said, "[T]here is never a good reason to have those settings off." and they make it pretty obvious.
I wasn't aware this game was by Kongregate. Had I known that, I never would have touched it.
you cant reset power gems and there is no way to turn the homing mode on the rocktes of or adjust the way they lock
I'm also getting the laser bounce bug described, where the direct hits from each dual laser do full dmg, but subsequent bounces target erratically and deal 0's.
