Since humanity became near extinct at the time of the Exile, the only human survivors are the denizens of the imperial colony at Varannar, now slowly coming to Archaelund as well.
I dunno. Humans are so proud of their imperial ancestry. It seems to me that an human could not live as a barbarian. Not (anymore) their civilisation. If only humans in Archaelund are those returned from the Exiled Kingdoms, I see not so much space for human barbarians. Unless (my hypothesis) we discover at some point native humans survived to the Horror.
